No definitely not. Not sure what it is though. Possibly carpet beetle

T4qn · 03/04/2024 13:22

Looks like a carpet beetle to me.

coffeeandreav · 03/04/2024 13:27

Carpet beetles. How do I get rid of them?

They don't look like bed bugs, but I can't zoom in enough to see properly.

Do you have any little red or little black dots on the undersheet of your bedding? These are tell tale signs of bedbugs. Or itchy red round flat bites, that may only show in the bath or shower. If you're free of these you're probably OK. Bedbugs are reticent nocturnal creatures, you tend to not see the actual bugs unless you have a moderate infestation at least. If you're seeing these little bugs with none of the telltale signs above you don't have bedbugs.

(I do, can you tell)

Carpet beetles. How do I get rid of them?

I buy a spray from the hardware shop. It gets sprayed on the carpet to kill them. It smells okay but is overpowering so I would recommend opening your windows when using it.

probably carpet beetles. If they are dark grey with white dots on their back.
bed bugs are shiny and look like black sesame seeds.

carpet beetles eat wool…

coffeeandreav · 03/04/2024 13:39

Thanks all. Looks like carpet beetles. I don't know which is worse!
Am all itchy now.

Carpet beetles don’t bite humans. So not as bad as bed bugs.

WonderingWanda · 03/04/2024 13:51

I also think carpet beetle, have you got wool carpets? They generally stay in the carpet and won't hurt you. You can get sprays to get rid of them. Our house was infested with them when we moved in.

coffeeandreav · 03/04/2024 13:58

No I don't think we do have wool carpets.

My husband had been away and has a bite on his leg. I guess this could be coincidence.

It’s any wool?
Do you have wool jumpers in closets? A wool blanket or throw on the bed?

KnittedCardi · 03/04/2024 14:10

We get carpet beetles every year, they love sheepskin rugs! However never done any harm or damage, I just flick them outside or hoover up.

TheShellBeach · 03/04/2024 14:14

Tenebrio molitor.

Also, the sprays you can get for carpet beetles will kill bed bugs too, it's all the same stuff. The only difference is that you have to be far more aggressive with the bed bug treatment; meticulously spray it everywhere and several times a week. Carpet beetles (I imagine) would only require a light spray on carpet, then forget about it. The point I'm trying to make through all the waffle is that it's worth lightly spraying your carpet whatever the little critters are, because the same spray kills every bug anyway.
