Man complained about me re yoghurt brand stopped doing a flavour

I was at work. Man (early 80s) asked me why we stopped doing a certain flavour yoghurt and the other two supermarkets stopped selling too.

Had my work’s handset on me and went onto the brand’s website and there wasn’t the flavour listed. Brand have dropped the flavour. On hearing the news - he flipped

He then went to the CSD asking for a manager. Manager said the same thing as me.

Do people realise that behaving like this is making staff leave retail?

Don't let him or anyone else get to you, I've been delivering Supermarket groceries for the past 15 years, and I often rolling eyes, oh no, and I really needed that, etc; etc; if we didn't have what they wanted, like it's the end of the world, as soon as I'm done at one address, I forget them, and move on to my next call, I might add the majority of customers are very pleasant though....😊

People having a go about his age, it IS relevant.

There is a certain kind of person who is the worst for this. Met them in retail since Covid and in Hospitality before that. And it is always pension aged men, usually of the richer sort.

Total conjecture on my part but given my experience within my own family and in my working life......

They have spent their entire professional lives being said "yes" to. Wives who had to do everything with the home and kids, even if she worked due to the Big Important Man doing the Big Important Job so his every need would be catered to because if they didnt cater to him they worried about losing their homes kids etc. Abuse of every sort was employed to make sure that this happened. Lower orders at work doffing their caps and making the sure that their every demand was catered to (see above).

And then they retire and there is genuine bafflement that they cannot do the same with the rest of the whole fucking world. Seen this with the rat faced abusive cheating maggot my aunt married. He really doesnt fucking get that his bullying doesnt work on anyone who isnt relying on him for a wage or a home. He hates my and my mothers guts.....cant imagine why Wink

They reserve a special hatred for anyone who is a) a woman b) someone who ) athey think is less than them, c) both or the special d) a woman in a position of power above them that they cannot take down. Saw it with my uncle, his loathing of his woman boss had him foaming, she was less than him as a woman, had power over him as his boss and the killer.....she got the promotion he didnt get.

Point is, that poor cow on the tills get the shit that these pathetic specimens know that they cant mete out to anyone else anymore.

💯 this!!!

There's a time and a plac3 for anger, that's for sure.

maybe be grateful you have more going on in your life than a yoghurt.

He may live alone, he may be ill, it may be his only joy, to you it’s a small thing to him it’s probably a huge thing, yes he shouldn’t have taken it out on you but get over it.

I'm so grateful to now be out of the firing line! My whole working life (and before) I worked in retail and hospitality. The crap you have to put up with is ridiculous!
I've had verbal abuse, been hit round the head with a metal shopping basket, hair pulled, bum pinched and slapped! Lewd comments made. Not to mention the lack of appreciation from management for everything we put up with and achieving the job previously done by 3 people!?!
I have thoroughly loved the past 8 months working in a small team, with no customers!
After >20 years customer facing, it's pure bliss. You have my sympathy 💐

It's like this in pharmacy at the moment especially over the Easter holidays it's been horrendous. People ordering their meds on Sunday then expecting them to be ready on the Tuesday when it's the first day of opening after the bank hols! They think no one else deserves a holiday

Oh yes indeed, encountered one recently in Canteen at work, who was RAGING he had to join a queue with staff in it (clearly queuing for their lunch in uniform) as nursing staff are there to service the visitors of course so should have let him go first.... see also the visitors that request cups of tea made for them!

I couldn't find Ainsley Harriott's Caribbean mango curry paste in Tesco, the range had finished. Did I have a go at a member of staff? No I didn't. I sent a polite email to Ainsley Harriott's team and the lovely member of staff sent me four sachets out in the post.

It was a 6 month new range promotion and they are hoping of selling it in other supermarkets in the future. I hope so as I only have two sachets left.
