Over the weekend at some point, I spent £24.99 on something which is showing as cleared through my bank to "En Online" - the actual line on my statement reads:

EN ONLINE SP 24.99

Further info it shows me is that the Business type is Game, Toy and Hobby Shops.

I can't for the life of me remember what I've bought! Anyone recognise it please?

I've Googled and nothing appears, and I've searched my emails for the amount and can't see anything and it's not showing as a subscription anywhere.

I know I can ring my bank and dispute it but the chances are it's something I've ordered knowingly online so don't really want to go down that route.

I do not have Playstation. We do have a Nintendo Switch in the house, but it is little used. I have only bought a few games, but that is 2 years ago and on a different card. No kids that could have snuck in anything either.
My bank couldn't help. I have put in a reclaim and blocked my card. It seems very strange there are no emails or messages about this whatsoever.

BTW my exact text says "EN ONLINE SP, LYON, FRA", so maybe some place based in Lyon? Still a riddle to me though.

Yep, on the phone to the bank now. They say it's a company in Lyon and are treating it as fraud. I've had to reclaim, get a new card etc.

SP - Sony PlayStation?

’SP’ can also stand for ‘settlement pending’ on a bank statement - ie a payment that you’ve authorised, but which hasn’t been taken yet. But all banks use different abbreviations, annoyingly!

Honestly, OP, just phone the bank - it’s much better to call them and realise that it’s something you knew about than to ignore it or spend ages trying to figure it out.

I have, I've called them and they are investigating it as fraud.

Is it this company?

www.spenergynetworks.co.uk

This is not a game toy or hobby shop

Definitely not in my case at least. I don't live in the UK.

I had a transaction recently for something i didn't recognise.
It was fraud
Got a refund in about 2 or 3 days and I'm just waiting on a new card.

I had 3 small amounts taken from my bank account last year all for less than £40 so I didn't notice until after the third time. All went out within about 10 days. It turned out to be fraud and I got a full refund.

Hi, after googling the same term this evening, as my wife had the same transaction happen over the wknd , and come out of her account today, I was suprised to see a number of people having the same issue, all this wknd. We have phoned the bank, and it was also described as being in Lyon, definitely fraudulent, and also it was set up as a regular payment. So for anyone else wondering, phone your bank now and report it. A mass case of fraud it would seem.

Thank you! I'm glad I called the bank - they said it had been set up as a subscription against my card. They immediately refunded me, cancelled my card and issued a new one, ensuring the subscription didn't transfer.

Thanks everyone, glad this has helped others too.

I had a card payment of £38.99 taken on 31 March to EN ONLINE SP; the bank says it was at 10.10 p.m. but I did not have my debit card with me at that time. The bank have checked and it's not a subscription; I don't play online games. The bank are treating it as fraud.

Nonmuminpeace · 16/04/2024 13:29

Hi

I had a similar credit card charge of £38.99 on 31st March, also EN ONLINE SP.

I do play games online and use subscription services on that card but I didn't remember buying anything and there were zero confirmation emails from anyone for that amount.

I spoke to my card supplier and they said it had been set up as a subscription. They've cancelled the card and actioned a refund based on it being fraudulent.

This thread was the only thing I found about it online. Thank you to the OP and other contributors.

Hope everyone gets their money back.

Simira · 16/04/2024 17:00

Refunded and cancelled by credit card provider here.

Curiouser and curiouser! Mine was same date - I'm wondering whether it's to do with my son's Switch?

Going to try and ring the bank - I'll definitely let you know.

Thanks everyone

I, too, have had this transaction go through - £24.99 EN Online.

It was a one-off and hasn't come out since. I'm wondering if it's Nintendo Online's yearly subscription, given Switch has been mentioned, as well...

If there's any other switch owners that pay for their Nintendo Online account yearly, maybe they coudl post here, to let us know if it's the same company?

Thanks.
