Worried to go to theme parents as a single parent with 2 children. It is even possible ? Legoland or Chessington maybe ?

My DS wants to go to a theme park, but I’d need to take my 4 year old too. Although as we’ve never been I imagine younger rides would be fine for both. My children are 7 & 4 now, but I can’t work out if it’s possible to do on my own with 2 DC?

My parents are too elderly and aren’t about to cope with a theme park even for half a few hours. My sibling is childless, so no cousins to go with.

Are there rides we can go as a 3 at Legoland or Chessington?

Aibu to worry about how I do this ?

I frequently took two dc to legoland on my own from when the youngest was a baby. Plenty of rides where you can sit as a 3: off the top of my head, the train, the balloon ride, the laser quest thing, atlantis, fairytale brook, the carousel, the sky train, spinning spider (I'm sure there are more). Plus the shows, playgrounds and mini world - go, you'll have a great time. School holidays will be RAMMED.

Ask nicely if your childless sibling would be so kind as to accompany you? Yes, you would need to buy a second adult ticket but then free to whatever rides you want, split up and take kids on different rides that they prefer etc

I used to take my two when little as we had an annual pass to one. Definitely doable!

I always took mine on my own . From them being about 2 & 8 we had Merlin passes and in the summer we used to do theme park tours as well .

I wasn't on my own with my four, but because we had four we always had the 2 kids with one adult thing, and all different sizes too - although I suppose we did have the benefit of one parent standing with the three while one went on with the one - although I don't remember this being a thing. In reality, I don't remember it being a problem - most of the gentler rides are not necessarily configured for two only (often two in the front, and you in the back) or just them together with you watching. We had a Merlin pass and we did them all, just my opinion but Chessington was the best for kids of that age - you can get a train right to it, and there was a travelodge within reasonable walking distance - maybe 25 mins (I think it was called Tolworth?, it was soul-less, but the kids loved being in a hotel, and it was cheap) plus Chessington has a zoo. Later on we stayed in the hotel on site and it was OK. Legoland was OK, but it is a bit of a chew on getting there if you don't drive and was crowded and overly themed. Thorpe Park is, imo, for older kids. Take snacks and drinks, you get complete rubbish for a very high price otherwise. Expect long queues if you are going there in holiday times. xx

Update !! I took my two DC today and we had an awesome time.

My 7 year old was over the 1.30m needed to ride alone on the rides needed, some an adult has to be next to a child unless over 1.3m. Or some rides are in two’s so to go on alone you must be over the height.

Some things are pods, so works for a family of 3 or 4 so that was fine anyway, so basically worth considering the ride set up 😊

Really good day out, although queuing for ages is hard for little ones to understand, but it’s peak time in the holidays despite it being overcast weather.

Can you take each of them separately? And leave the other one with family?

I used to either do that, and give them each a day out on their own with me,or bring another adult friend along.

Are you near paultons park? That’s a good one for those sort of ages

Totally agree

I did Legoland with 2 children many times as toddler to teens.
There are nice smaller rides for 3 people like lazy brook and balloon ride . Lots of non ride stuff to look at too like the mini theatre and water park action play and miniature land.
Had a complete nightmare when took one to toilet in a restaurant whist other asleep in buggy and she woke up and wandered off. I screamed the place down. Still not over it mentally.
Last went 10 years ago so rides probably different.
