AIBU to ask my mum (sons ‘nana’) to stop responding to my son calling her ‘mama’?

my 18 can say a fair few words and calls us by name ‘mama, dada, nana etc’ so he knows the difference etc. I just am finding it weird that when he calls my mum ‘mama’ she responds with things like ‘yes my baby’ instead of correcting him and explaining she’s nana? I’ve heard all this happen when I wasn’t in the room and things are just making me uncomfortable. She literally carries on like he’s her son at times, which is great that he is so loved and obviously I’m so grateful. I actually had a really bad relationship with my mum growing up so it’s actually odd seeing her be so affectionate towards him.

Maybe it’s jealousy, maybe it’s normal? Could be both but is it reasonable to bring it up? I really don’t want our relationship to fall apart over this

My DD used to call the Amazon delivery driver “daddy” so I wouldn’t take it too personally, but yes perfectly reasonable to ask your mum to correct and respond to “nana”

Both of my children used to call my parents Mum and Dad and me by my name because that’s what they heard and my parents answered out of habit (6 children). You need to get everyone to call you Mum when baby is around. If you answer to your name, that’s what they’ll know you as. I bet your baby is just copying you.

My toddler is almost 3, but even she still calls my father "dad" because she hears me do it. She knows who he is, but just likes to copy us. After we visit she will also call me "honey" the rest of the day as my dad does 😂🤷‍♀️ mums respond to the word mum on instinct, while it's not odd to feel jealous over this, I wouldn't read too much in to it. Just need to get in the habit of calling your parents their grandparent name!
