Kindly, it sounds very much like a pulled muscle to me. Especially considering you've been carrying things to a skip. No chest pain etc. would also make me think nothing sinister. Rest up and feel better.

Bonnyswannie · 30/03/2024 22:42

Thank you I was thinking this but the had a blind panic!
I have had reflux and coughing too but that must be unrelated

TheShellBeach · 30/03/2024 22:42

That doesn't sound like a heart attack at all.

Thank you I wasn’t sure

Can you press an area of your shoulder that makes the pain increase? If you can this would indicate it really is a shoulder problem to me.

Yeah I think so, I’m kind of too focus on it but I think that is happening

It did start about an hour after loading the skip

Google heart attack symptoms. Pain in the shoulder isn't one of them.

Yes it is.

This however doesn't sound like one.

Bonnyswannie · 30/03/2024 22:53

I thought it was pain in arm and shoulder

OP posts:
gettingolderbutcooler · 30/03/2024 23:00

Left side though.

StormySpanielz · 30/03/2024 23:04

It’s obviously not a heart attack. How old are you OP (as that is a factor affecting cardiovascular risks)

It is, but it’s usually left shoulder.

The fact you’ve been lifting heavy stuff it’s more than likely going to be that OP, try and relax.

Angrymum22 · 30/03/2024 23:15

In women pain in chest can radiate to shoulder and down the arm and frequently up into the jaw. It is nearly always on the left. Also women can get abdominal pain rather than chest pain.

In a small number of people, whose heart is on the right side, dextrocardia, then the symptoms may be on the right.

Interestingly you can live your whole life without knowing your heart is on the wrong side ( actually your heart is pretty central it’s the apex that lies on the left or right). Unless you have a chest X-ray you will never know. It’s also likely that all your organs are the wrong side.
Pain in your right shoulder is most likely due to the work you did yesterday.

Whalesinthefleld · 30/03/2024 23:20

You sound like me OP. I also have health anxiety, it’s absolutely exhausting at times. I also don’t think it sounds like anything sinister.

SD1978 · 30/03/2024 23:24

Whilst not passing to your health anxiety OP- the misinformation being spread regarding symptoms in women is concerning- call 111. Heart attacks in women are under diagnosed because women don't usually present with the 'typical' symptoms men do, and therefore underreport. This is well known. Whilst it does sound like a pulled muscle, to say that isolated pain in certain areas can't possibly be cardiac related is not correct. I've seen someone come in with isolated jaw pain which was in fact cardiac 'chest pain' have you taken any pain relief? Is it constant or intermittent? Reproducible with movement or deep breathing? Intermittent, reproducible pain (pain you can 'make happen') is less likely to be cardiac, but the common chest clutching, arm hurting symptoms are not that common in women.

VIcs67 · 30/03/2024 23:27

I doubt you would be able to sit there posting on MN if you weee having a heart attack! Probably best to get some therapy for the anxiety. CBT can help.

I was diagnosed as having a heart attack. I don’t know when I had it or the cardiologist couldn’t say when I had it.
The symptoms are not like you see on tv.

Yes this is the thing that frightens me
iv taken paracetamol and pain has Essen unless I put my arms above my head (I do this to prove I can) but it’s not the same pain as it was

SD1978 · 31/03/2024 00:03

@Bonnyswannie - the pain isn't constant, and changes on movement. That's a good thing- I'm well aware in someone with health anxiety, my comment doesn't help- at all with the anxiety you're feeling, but I also find it really difficult when sometimes people minimise or give information that isn't strictly true in order to ease/ minimise someone's health post. Have you tried a heat pack too?

NoisySnail · 31/03/2024 00:45

The key difference is whether movement of the shoulder makes a difference to the level of pain. If you move it and it hurts more or less, then it is muscular.

People like you should be banned from giving advice !!!!

Your ‘statement’ simply IS NOT true !!!!

FFSNorman · 31/03/2024 02:05

Was going to say what @SD1978 said - those of you saying cardiac pain is this, that the other are talking bollocks, quite frankly. Cardiac symptoms in women are quite varied and often not classic. No, @Bonnyswannie I realise this isn’t useful for you (the skip activity and it hurting more when you move it sound very muscular - cardiac ‘pain’/symptoms don’t change with movement.

I had a massive heart attack and even the paramedic was shocked at how ok I seemed, and only did the 12-lead ecg as a belt and braces. Lo and behold, there it was. My symptoms were feeling like the glands in my neck were aching, diarrhoea, heavy arms and unable to lay down. The neck/throat thing had been on and off for 4 days, the other stuff slowly evolved over an evening. I only suspected heart attack due to enhanced first aid training from paramedics as part of a role at work.

OP, I hope the shoulder settles down - nothing like a clear out!
