NINJA multicookers opinion and disaster stories

Hello! I love love love my Ninja air fryer and was thinking about buying a multicooker from Ninja too (10 in 1, 11 in 1, 15 in 1 etc.) But they are soooo expensive!

I want to decide if/which one is worth it more and wait for the next Black Friday type event. My husband thinks it will be a waste of money an they take too much space for no reason...AIBU?

Settle thIs for us please! Do any of you have any of them and if yes do you use them often? Can you cook for a family of 4 there? I love the idea of having a rice cooker and slow cooker amongst other things. The 10 in 1 model has a 15 min meal function which also looks interesting-if too good to be true.

I have the old 9 in 1 and I use it every day. Absolutely my fave thing 🤌🏼

YoureALizardHarry11 · 31/03/2024 18:46

Everyone one in our immediate family has a ninja of different models and we all absolutely love them. One of ours had a fault, phoned ninja they sent a replacement the next day. The oven is rarely used.

We've got a leg of lamb currently roasting away in the 14 in 1. Most Sundays, it's got a chicken in there and then some proper stock for soup. I really like the pressure cooker function, as it automatically vents rather than relying upon somebody to do it themselves (and I have memories of my mother gingerly reaching across the kitchen like Errol Flynn trying to tip the weight over to vent the Prestige with the tip of a kitchen knife in constant fear of the entire thing exploding if she had misjudged the amount of water to put into it).

I had a slow cooker before, but that cracked and I decided that we'd get more use out of something that could do things like dehydrating gluts of fruit, baking, pressure cooking pulses, steaming and with the option to just bubble away happily without the cost of gas, DP's tendency to have flames heating the surrounding air and sides of the pan with the lid of and welding stuff to nonstick pans he'd then leave to carbonise on or scrape off with metal utensils. And can be used to make a whole gluten free pizza.

Haha my husband is dangerous in the kitchen too he will not be allowed to use it for a while!! Can you do things like rice/pasta at the bottom and chicken on top in the 14 in 1? This is one of the functions that I like in the other model.

We have a 15 in 1 Nina. Bloody love it. Bearly use the normal oven now or the hob.

Slow cooking, air fry and bake functions are use regularly.

Top tip to get the black inner basket out bend the spokes of 2 forks to lift it out as it gets hot and awkward.

Kat256M · 31/03/2024 20:48

@CrushingOnRubies Thank you for the tip!

I have a 15in1 foodi ninja multi 7litre, and no ja have had to replace it twice (on my third now in the space of a year), the fan is the culprit.
But.
I bloody love it and I have another years warranty on it so I'll just keep getting it replaced if needs be.
Steam air frying is a revelation, and the pressure cooker function is brilliant, we also use steam roast and normal air fryer quite a bit.
So out of 15 functions, just 4 or 5 functions!
We rarely use our oven now too. And it makes making dinner after a long day at work so Much easier, bung all in and steam air fry or pressure cooker, stews in the space of 20 mins

Shortkiwi · 31/03/2024 20:56

We’ve had a Ninja foodi max air fryer and health grill for a couple of years- has 6 functions - it’s brilliant - we very rarely use the oven.

Rice is a big one if it can get it right! I can cook it but I have to keep hovering over the pot-not easy with kids! I would like to leave and forget

Rice is an absolute game changer. I stick a good glug of water (250ml ish) in the main cooking pot. Then I put equal amount of rice and water into a metal mixing bowl. Stick it in the main pot on a trivet and pressure cook for 6 mins. It then switches to keep warm so just stays there until I've finished cooking the rest of dinner. I've seen people stack bowls inside so they pressure cook a rice and curry at the same time. Its called the pot in pot method.

Rice comes out perfect every time. Longer cook rice e.g brown need a few minutes longer.

Kat256M · 01/04/2024 00:17

@Mummyofthewildones I know!!! That is why I really nees to settle on a model quickly 🙂

I think I will go with the 10 in 1-great price in the bundle now, big enough, does everything I need & the quick meals really appeal to me now that I have a baby! I will explore pressure cooking at another, quieter stage of my life😂

I’ve got a Ninja multi cooker, an older model but it does loads of functions. To be honest I absolutely love the pressure cook function, it cooks veg, rice, pasta, stews, part cooks chicken and then air fry for a crispy skin, cottage pie, soup… the list goes on!
It’s my absolutely favourite function and I wouldn’t spend that amount of money on a ninja that didn’t have pressure cook as a function.

LaWench · 01/04/2024 00:30

I have the 14 in 1, it is used every day. Bacon for breakfast, 6 mins on grill, no need to preheat or stand watching. Jacket potato for lunch, 5 mins in the microwave and 4 mins on air fry mode.
Dinner can be pressure cooked rice or pasta bake, or saute for soup. Steam air fry is delicious for fish/ roast potatoes and roast chicken, leaves meat juicy but skin is crispy. DH went headfirst into the crimpit craze from FB and loves it.

I only use my main oven for pizza these days as its too big to go into the ninja. It seems such a ballache to heat it up for 15/20mins now.

BeretRaspberry · 01/04/2024 00:37

We have the 15 in 1 and are just about to change it for a flex drawer one. We used the pressure cooker a few times but not much and I thought the slow cooker bit was awful.. meat was tough etc. The air fryer bit was good though, hence replacing that bit.

Kat256M · 01/04/2024 01:21

@Biscuitandacuppa I saw a few videos and the steam when the pressure was released terrified me to be honest! Not sure it will be good for my cupboards that will be straight above it and I have no idea how it doesn't set off the fire alarm😂

Ooh this is such a handy thread, I'm also looking to invest
Are they easy to clean? Is it a hand wash only type thing or can I bung bits in the dishwasher?

The pressure setting isn't too bad, the steam dissipates on its own. It's the steam setting where it goes crazy. My ninja lives on the hob so steam goes out of the extractor.

Kat256M · 01/04/2024 09:57

@LaWench Good tip, I will keep that in mind for all models as I like the idea of the steam mode. Near the extractor it is then!

Mine is on the hob too as I rarely use the hob now because I have the multi cooker.
The pressure cooker is the best thing about it!

I may or may not have googled crimpit, fell into a rabbit hole and now have both different versions ordered.....😁
