The amount of chocolate they have

DS 9 and DS 5. They won an Easter egg at a hunt this morning. Wanted to have some with their lunch. It's a hollow egg but small, about the size of a small Cadbury buttons.

I let them have half an egg. DH is going on about how it's a ridiculous amount of chocolate.

The boys don't over eat on chocolate on a day to day basis.

We always have so much chocolate left over that I'm a little bit in the mindset of it's Easter weekend and means they will get through it quicker.

Yes-thats far too much in one go.
No- it's Easter, it's ok as a treat.

Oh dear. He'd hate to see what my kids have put away today!!

Your DH needs to lighten up a bit

NeedtostopusingMNsomuch · 30/03/2024 14:00

It’s a one-off. My children are chocolate fiends and if they even get a whiff of it they would eat it until they feel sick! We let ours have prob too much but it’s one weekend a year and part of the Easter fun

mynameiscalypso · 30/03/2024 14:00

My DS is 4.5 and had three of the small hollow Lindt bunnies yesterday. It's no big deal at all to me.

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 30/03/2024 14:01

It's Easter, kids will gorge on too much chocolate, it just is what it is. Diets will be back to normal after the weekend and it will have had no lasting impact.

Your husband would fit in perfectly with the food obsessed posters on here, the rest of us will think hiin ridiculous

loropianalover · 30/03/2024 14:02

I’d crack him over the head with an egg and tell him to lighten up.

Out of interest, does he take such a daily interest in their wellbeing or only on Easter weekend? Who does the food shop, plans and cooks the meals? Who makes their breakfast, who ensures there is Calpol in the house? Who helps with teeth brushing, brings them to dentist? Who makes sure they’re getting exercise and fresh air, who makes sure their shoes aren’t too small?

My 4 year old ate a Cadburys buttons Easter egg (not the buttons) in one go yesterday at an Easter egg hunt 🤷🏼‍♀️ it wasn’t near dinner time and it is Easter so I didn’t mind.

mollyfolk · 30/03/2024 14:11

I kind of agree with him but I would leave it and make a fuss. Yes it is too much but it's difficult with the eggs and it's preferable to not make a fuss about eating too much ect.....

Everything back to normal next week!

toddlermummum · 30/03/2024 22:58

Half of one of the small eggs is nothing 🤷‍♀️

pinkmushroom5 · 30/03/2024 23:06

Easter is once a year. Let kids eat chocolate ffs!

LibbyLemoncake · 30/03/2024 23:09

Your DH sounds a bundle of fun.

Teacupsandrollups · 30/03/2024 23:13

We always have so much chocolate left over
Why are you buying them so much chocolate if you don’t want them to eat it?
It’d actually be kinder not to give them so many eggs in the first place if you’re going to monitor them so strictly.
What’s the point?

alseb · 31/03/2024 00:11

My first purchase of Easter eggs didn’t make it until Maundy Thursday in this house. I had to buy a second lot today for my teenage kids for Easter morning. And I don’t care. It’s Easter, all the really awful things happening in the world right now it’s nice to have eggs and keep traditions going.
