AIBU?

To report to NSPCC without an address?

I have had significant concerns about a toddler for awhile - neglect, being locked in a room and more importantly drug addicted parents.

The reason I haven't reported before is because I don't know their address. The child goes to nursery but no idea which one. I know the name of the town they live in but that's it. They live in council accommodation so presumably the parents will be on tenancy agreements/council lists.

I have the names and recently found out the DOB of the mum and the toddler. Is it still worth reporting to the nspcc, will they have enough information to pass on/act on?

I don't know how much information the NSPCC need, being a national charity. Hopefully others will know this.

I would instead report to your local social services team, who are more likely to have local knowledge.

Report it to children's services directly, don't bother with NSPCC. NSPCC just send irritating wordy password protected documents instead of getting nicely organised referrals from the MASH which actually contain the information you need.

Definitely report to your local children's social services, they'll be able to locate the child based on the information you can provide.

Its not clear OP if you know what local authority they live within. You say you dont know what town they're in but do you know for example if they come under Devon or Manchester or whatever local authority it is?

If you know the LA then just refer through their central referrals/MASH at children's services. Dont bother with the NSPCC, honestly they're like a chocolate tea pot

i had serious concerns about a family.

i knew first names only, the rough d.o.b of child one (born within a week of my own child) and the month on birth of child two and the vague area where they lived. (i had never met them)
I knew for certain they were well known to SS

I called SS three times.... each time it took ages to find them on the system but i patiently waited for ages and ages insisting would wait for as long as it took. The second call they couldnt find them at first and told me they couldnt and i said you did last time so keep trying and they did, eventually.

But yes, knowing what I knew, i couldn't not call SS about these poor children, and didnt let not knowing their address or surname or dates of birth stop me from getting it all added onto their file.

Please report these children. if you have serious concerns as you clearly do.

Don't sit on this, report to your local council and tell them everything you know. If it's as bad as you say you could be saving a child's life, considering the recent horrific cases.

Address would be helpful but if you have DOBs they can at least search the system to see if they are known to CSC.

Why do you know the DOBs but not any other details?

What is your evidence?

If you know the nursery, they will have the duty to refer. Ask for the safeguarding lead.

Yesssss!!! This is so true! And I often think.of how much money goes to the nspcc and wonder what they do with it (apart from produce unusable passwords)
