To ask for reassurance? Panicking about Dad’s health

My DD had a phone call from the doctor’s receptionist.

He’d had a test on his lungs because he’d had two chest infections, and the receptionist said the doctor wanted to talk to him about the results.

She did say it was nothing to worry about, and that the doctor couldn’t see him until April 22nd. He seems quite calm but I am panicking it is cancer.

My more rational brain says the doctor wouldn’t wait a month to tell him if that was the case, but then the NHS is on its knees. Would a doctor wait that long to tell him? Does anyone know?

I don't think the receptionist would say it was nothing to worry about if it was cancer - or I would strongly hope they wouldn't anyway.

If the nurse has said it's nothing to worry about I would try not to panic, I really don't think she would say that if it was something as serious as cancer. She can't discuss these things with you over the phone, so I would think she's said that to you so you don't worry about it being cancer, because they know that's the first thing people think of when you get a call like that.

I’m pretty sure the GP practice would not be able to make a cancer diagnosis, and if they suspected cancer they’d make a referral to the hospital and not wait until 22 April!

I’d believe what the receptionist told you if I was you.
