Hedgehog or hat bobble - were they having a laugh?

I’m struggling to imagine getting a pom-Pom and a hedgehog mixed up . Maybe in the dark, but as soon as you picked it up surely it would be obvious it’s not a hedgehog because even a sick or dead hedgehog would not feel soft and woolly? AIBU that no one would be this ridiculous, and whoever took a pompom to a vet was doing it for laughs/publicity?

If she picked it up with heavy duty gardening gloves she wouldn't have felt the difference I guess.

Just had our first hedgehog sighting of the year - caught on camera trap. Definitely the real thing. It moves about too much to be a hat! 🦔
