Just to set the scene, I don’t dislike her and get on with her but she’s very big headed, thinks she’s incredible at her job, like to act senior to me (we’re the same level). I tend to smile and nod and internally laugh and roll my eyes.

Our manager is off and we’ve been asked by someone else to pick up some work (manager has not spoke to us about it at all) and straight away she’s like thats yours to pick up.

Its because she’s not as good as she likes to make out. But it’s also not on her to just deem it to be mine (same as I can’t deem it to be hers)

"yeah, lets wait til its been assigned eh?"

and ignore

MILTOBE · 27/03/2024 16:00

Why would you take that from her?

UnderTheSink · 27/03/2024 16:01

Why do you just nod your head when she's giving orders instead of telling her to do one?

I don’t. I mean when she comes out with ridiculous things about how amazing she is at her job.

Can you play her at her own game?
Let the “someone else” know you will be picking this up as it “plays to your strengths” (or better some clear hints about “I have more knowledge/skill in this area than [Colleague]”)

Do an amazing job at it

make sure everyone (including your manager when they get back) knows it was all you

Unless it’s grunt work in which case different problem
