To think that our lucid drams can have meaning/truth

Bit controversial but interested to know other people's opinions.. I have quite horrific anxiety and OCD and because of this people that don't understand often tell me I have a wild and vivid imagination. Especially as I'm in my 30s people often think it's quite childlike. I've been having some very lucid weird dreams lately to the point that they've been so real and have scared me witless.. I cant help but then try to find info on what these dreams mean. I've read several articles and stories of people saying they dreamt of something and it turns out to be a warning or a real life event then occured kind of like a prediction. Are these people or loonies or do you think that our dreams can represent some truth or even premonition? Not sure why I'm going down this rabbit hole as I know it will only fiel my anxious imagination but I'm intrigued to know others thoughts.

Wow. Thanks for all your replies. It's so interesting to hear all your thoughts and experiences. Yes I think they must not be lucid dreams because I am not aware I am asleep if that makes sense. I'mt genuinely feels like I'm there in that moment.. I dream every night without fail and I always remember them clear as day. It's mostly about the same things. Last night I dreamt that my sister asked to look after my toddler and then gave him away to some local bag heads and me and dH fought to get him back.. there were a lot of elements to this dream and alot of characters in it.. all people whom I know but not necessarily close to. It was weird!

I don't think they have meanings beyond the fact that they reveal what you're preoccupied about.

Yes this sums it up well!

I’ve had precognitive dreams but in my experience they have been very dreamlike and sometimes just symbolic.
In my experience disaster/catastrophic dreams are about what is going on in your subconscious. They reveal fears and parts of your psyche you need to heal or understand. And sometimes dreams are just mundane stuff your brain is sifting through!
Could you try keeping a dream diary? Keep a notebook by your bed and write them down as soon as you wake up. Don’t try to analyse, just objectively write what happened. I have been doing this for years and it’s been so helpful to see where I need work iyswim! After a while you can see the pattern of things that are repeating in different ways. As other pp have said it can also reveal things you haven’t realised consciously but have some kind of subconscious awareness of.
If you’re interested in dream work, Charley Morley has books and courses where he will teach you to wake up in your dreams to change the outcomes and embrace the shadow - literally heal yourself through your dreams.
Or you might find hypnotherapy helpful to sort out the anxiety/ocd and that will definitely change your dreams once you’ve sorted that out! Look up rapid transformational therapy. If you’ve been trying different therapy for years maybe you need to find something that gets right to the root cause?
