AIBU to ask who to go to for an ADHD assessment for my 23 year old DS?

DS currently in final year of Uni. He has a diagnosis already for Dyslexia and Dyspraxia. This diagnosis was made by an assessor recommended by his uni. He receives Disabled Students Allowance which pays for a specialist mentor to support him with his studies. His mentor feels that DS has difficulties typical of a person with ADHD.

I was wondering who would be good to approach for an ADHD diagnosis? I know that the NHS is on its knees, so the wait for an NHS assessment would be very long. I was wondering about the possibility of paying privately for a diagnosis for ADHD.

Does anyone have any ideas about who we could contact with regard to getting a private diagnosis for ADHD?

Thanks for any advice.

Have you read any of the thread? The bit about how ADHD 360 have no doctors, do short reports of dubious quality which might well not be accepted by a GP to prescribe, and have a bad CQC rating?

I am confused if you choose the RTC does that mean a private diagnosis/payment?
My DC has been waiting over 18 months for an assessment. I was contacted by the hospital to ask if they would like to have a private diagnosis paid for by the NHS. I’ve agreed to this, would this be ok? The hospital have said that it will be a recognised diagnosis.

Not private, but GP is under no obligation to share care with them.

@hairbrush1234 thank you. I have just rung them and they have told me that they are working in conjunction with the local NHS hospital trust to get waiting lists down. It means that all the appointments will be at my local hospital as well so hopefully it will be ok.

and said specifically no reputable practitioner could possibly make a diagnosis via Zoom.

For adults this is nonsense. Agree probably not appropriate for young children.

I didn't think it'd be an issue. They're not feeling for a bump, they're just speaking to you. I don't see how it's all that different sitting over a desk to in front of a screen.
