How much notice do you give for interviews?

I applied for a job yesterday, closing date was last night. Bern offered an interview this eve, which is being held first thing Monday morning. It's my son's birthday tomorrow and we are away for the weekend. Adventure packed weekend, and only have sat and sun evening to prepare (in a hotel room shared with another family). It feels so short notice and I usually spend hours preparing for an interview. Does anyone have any tips? I've never been given an interview date this short notice. My current team (same organisation) have a rule that 7 days notice is always given at minimum. Gutted I don't have more time to get ready..

That's mad - go back and ask them if there are other days/ slots available.

We advertise there interview date when we post the job listing (6 weeks ahead) and then confirm it a week ahead when we write to all candidates to let them know if they've been successful in application

It does feel rushed. I'm lucky my manager is supportive and will give me the time off.

It has two double beds and two sets of bunk beds. It's me, my friend, her twins and my son.

I change jobs fairly regularly and have successfully interviewed with less than a weeks notice. My interview prep normally takes 2-3 hours. My number 1 tip is print out the job description and your application. I run through the job description imagining times when I've done similar things and describe them out loud. I think of likely questions they will ask based on the jd. Remember you are the expert on your career and you got through to interview so they know you can do the job!

I try and book candidates over 3/4 days. There will always be someone who will be offered the first date - for me it is usually the candidate liked the most - and others booked in around them. If you really cannot make it, I’d just send an email politely stating that you cannot make an interview on that say but you are still very keen to interview and give them alternatives or state you are flexible whichever is best for you. Then see what they say.
good luck @MaddenA
