Currently suffering through the 4th cold / flu I’ve had this year. The last one went for three weeks & made me lose my voice - I’d only just recovered from this before falling ill again! Seriously had about two days of feeling normal.

Went to GP during last illness as cough / voice loss had me wondering if I needed antibiotics. Dr said that viruses are lasting longer right now and that I didn’t need antibiotics.

Anyone else constantly ill? I’m in my early 30s and healthy, non-smoker, exercise regularly and eat well… no kids so not exposed to nursery bugs. I did have a serious medical event in my 20s but don’t think it could cause immune issues. Have been under stress with work so maybe that’s why…

I feel I’m the only fool that sanitises their hands still when leaving a shop these days, after touching door handles/leaving toilets if out and about etc but…touch wood, I haven’t had a cold since before covid.
People are germy, & winter is a bad time for coughs and colds, maybe try taking zinc and some vitamin D to give yourself a boost.

Zinc has become a popular treatment for the common cold. Some studies have found that zinc lozenges may reduce the duration of cold, perhaps by a day or so, and may reduce the number of upper respiratory infections. Zinc helps fight infection and heal wounds.

Studies involving over 19,000 adults show that having low levels of vitamin D increases the likelihood of developing common cold symptoms by over a third (36%) compared with people with high levels.

Probably coincidental rather than down to immune issues.
When you say flu, do you mean full on, cannot move or get out of bed for days proper flu or a heavy cold?

If you know, you know about flu.

I've never bought into the hand sanitiser thing, but I do wash my hands frequently. We're all different. Stress definitely can affect your immune response. Give you body time to recover. Look after yourself. I take vit D supplements and have done for years no idea if they make a difference.

Is hand gel not antibacterial or do they now have antiviral properties to? Can’t remember.
I remember the conversations around hand sanitizer in covid being questionable due to covid being a virus so hand sanitizer’s not being effective.

Like many things, hot soapy water is sufficient: actually washing things like germs away is effective. I think the alcohol in sanitiser kills viruses but I can't be sure and I must have used it less than a handful of times? It's not going to help with an airborne virus if you breathe it in and it was proven that COVID didn't live on metal, e.g. door handles and bannisters.

There's no need to use antibacterial products for the vast majority of people.

Have you started taking anything as a boost for your immune system? And are you eating well and drinking lots of water? I’d look at sleep, fresh air and as you said stress too, all of these could just mean you’re getting hit a bit harder. Hope you feel better soon op, I had a year of it the year before last including stupid Covid (now have stupid long Covid and a bad chest) and it sucks x Hope you get to relax this weekend

I’m the same op I’ve had bug after bug since January and I’ve just woke up today with the worst stomach bug ever! Currently in bed
