This article (OK, it's the Daily Mail but there seems to be some truth in it) suggests the sponsors (Nike) of the English football team strip/uniform have changed the colours of the traditional St George Cross (red and white) to some randomly more 'inclusive' colours. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/index.html

This is so wrong if it's true!

the article says it’s a reference to the 1966 team colour scheme rather than ‘inclusive’ colours?

I don’t think it looks very good but equally I don’t get offended by someone playing about with flag colours.

I like it!

But England's flag is the St George Cross which is rather strikingly red and white. If Nike is saying it's an homage to the 1966 world cup winning team, they wore a red and white strip for the game itself...

Yeah but the article says it was inspired by the training kit which isn’t just red and white. Did you actually read it?

besides the daily Mail’s bread and butter is whipping up a frenzy about stuff like this to get rage clicks. And apparently it’s worked well…
