DH took some of my meds and is swaying about at work

I will preface this by saying I know I shouldn't be giving my medication to others, I have never before and won't again.

My DH has been suffering from terrible back pain that wasn't responding to anything. He had to be in work tonight and in desperation asked if he could have one of my Nortryptiline (like amitryptiline) tablets which I have perscribed for neuropathy, to see if it helped.

My 10mg tablets were swapped for 25mg tablets when my dose went up a few weeks ago and the fact completely slipped my mind otherwise I'd have told him to break it in half.

He has just text from work saying he felt like he was swaying when he walks and feels drowsy.

I take 50mg so I don't think 25 will hurt him but it's quite a lot for somebody who hasn't had it before.

Jesus.

How concerned need we be?

Hell be fine. Maybe just needs to have a lie down for a bit.

Reminds me of the time my ex took two tramadol thinking they were lemsip 😂
Sure he'll be fine but maybe ring 111 if you're concerned but tell him to come home

I did something similar a few years back. Crippling period pain. We keep our medicines in a locked box out of the way of the children. Saw cocodomol so popped down 2 thinking they were my 8/500.

They were not. They were my husbands 30/500 for his back pain.

I spent the day absolutely flying and pain free. It was quite enjoyable 😉

He will be fine he just needs to wait for the side effects to wear off. If he’s unable to perform his job he can let them know he’s feeling unwell and needs to go home.

I'm only learning that tramadol aren't the same as paracetamol from this thread. We have them and I'm sure I took one for period pain and it didn't work which is with i never bother with them. What way do they make you feel?

Tramadol is a controlled drug and usually only prescribed for serious pain. It is also illegal to have in certain countries so check before holidaying abroad if you take some.

Hope your husband got home safely and is feeling better.

One small thing though - are you a missing princess? Because, if he has actually done this before, it could explain some things that have been in the news lately. 😁

‘We’ don’t have them. An individual has them. Just because someone in your house is on a medication that doesn’t mean it’s fair game for anyone to take, with something like tramadol that is incredibly dangerous and irresponsible behaviour on your part. They were prescribed for one person only and that obviously wasn’t you. It is a highly controlled, potent and addictive drug

HollyKnight · 22/03/2024 03:55

That was idiotic of you both. I hope your husband doesn't have any heart conditions. There is a reason why prescription drugs can't be bought in Tesco. They are dangerous and need monitoring.

It even says in the box it’s illegal to give tramadol to anyone else. I was prescribed it once. Worked wonders for my pain but I couldn’t stand the itching.
