To think this could be internal hemarrhoids?

I know I've posted a lot here in recent weeks - I'm having never-ending health issues which could be related? I have an appointment later but not convinced we'll get to the bottom of it.

It started off with a bad UTI and multiple antibiotics. This seemed to constipate me - or maybe it was the stress of it, or not eating much, who knows - and I've been straining to poop for the past few weeks. Yesterday, there was some bright red blood upon wiping, it was really burny and itchy, and even after emptying my bowels, I felt like I had to go...for literally hours. The feeling is still there, but I know I don't actually need to go. It's like a constant rectal pressure. Has anyone had this?

The doctor I'm seeing later is a urogynae, so should help with the UTI issue (which hasn't fully resolved) but not convinced he'll be much help with the rectal stuff. Is there any chance they could be linked? For the record I'm 32 and have never had children.

More than likely yes especially as you have been constipated.

Practically everyone ends up with piles eventually.

That said you absolutely need to mention it to your doctor.

@AnnaMagnani Thanks! I'll mention it to him. Is it normal to have a constant feeling of needing to poop, even when the bowel is actually empty? :/ It's weirding me out so much.

No it is not! It could still be being constipated but absolutely this needs to be investigated, if not by your gynae doctor then they should be able to direct you.

pickledwillies · 21/03/2024 18:45

@AnnaMagnani Sorry I meant, is it normal if you have hemarrhoids. The gynae I saw earlier wasn't at all interested so off to the GP I go!

Not really, you shouldn't be able to feel that they are there.

When I saw my GP, he said haemorrhoids make up at least half of his working day.

pickledwillies · 21/03/2024 19:08

@AnnaMagnani Ah ok, though just googled it and it's a common symptom.

What is anal pressure? If you are a sufferer of piles (also called haemorrhoids) you may be prone to a feeling of pressure around the bottom, almost as if you feel like you want to open your bowels (called tenesmus).

Seeing a GP tomorrow.

A rectal prolapse or lax rectal mucosa would cause the same symptoms
I thought I might have internal piles but recently diagnosed with this instead

@pickledwillies I am having exactly the same symptoms as you it is strange. UTI followed by tingling and now rectal pressure. Did you get to the bottom of it?
