My son had a little study. With his it was checking for sleep apnea. He wore a monitor all night which measured everything.

I had one last July. As described by previous poster, you will have monitoring sensors stuck to several part of your body, scalp, chest, ankles etc. The sensors are plugged into a box next to the bed, you are also filmed throughout the night. If a sensor comes loose during the night a member of staff will come to your room to reattach. Bedrooms are en-suite and private although mine was pretty dated it was clean and comfortable enough. Mine was also for sleep apnea but no-one here can say what particular sleep disorder they might be checking you for.

Who referred you for the sleep study?

It's like the PP posters said, you sleep with wires attached to you and they also watch you on a monitor. The rooms are more like a normal bedroom than a hospital room and the nurses don't come in unless they need to so they don't disturb you.

I left the hospital at 5am last time because I couldn't stay sleep but they had enough data so it was fine.

If you need the toilet you need to buzz a nurse so they can disconnect you.

You can have a shower in the morning to wash all the gunk off you from the sensors.

They stick a bunch of monitors all over you and then you sleep. I assume that the doctor thinks you might have sleep apnea.

Did your doctor not tell you why you were having it? That seems kind of odd.
