in postponing dd1's birthday tea today because dd2 has been sick this morning?

I thought it would be a given to postpone. One of the Mums said no probs we will do it next week but the other asked if dd2 was still being sick and said she wasn't bothered and would be happy for her child to still come.....(with her I hasten to add so not offloading small children..)
Now I feel bad for postponing and I am wondering if it was an overreaction.
DD2 was sick three times but has kept her lunchtime toast down. On the other hand I wouldn't want my children going to a house where a child had been sick that morning .
So AIBU or is she?

I don't think either of you are being unreasonable TBH! I would not take my children to a house where a child had been sick that day but other Mums I know would not be bothered at all. In your position I would probably have postponed for a few days too, partly so as not to pass on any bugs and partly so DD2 could enjoy the fun too!

. Yes unreasonable seems a bit harsh for this one, but good topic title for it...
I sometimes think I am a bit precious, but other times think the opposite so I am wondering on general consensus for this one??

I wouldn't want ds to catch the bug so would be grateful you had postponed.

I postponed dd's first birthday party as she had tonsillitis.
A friend cancelled her ds's birthday as siblings were sick.

Not unreasonable

Another friend went ahead with a party with a clearly unwell child (we hadn't been given prior warning) and my dc's got D and V

Hmmm

Shall I convince you with my vomit party story?

When dd1 was two we woke up on the party day and DP vomited. So I prepared for the party on my own with 2yo and 8mo in tow. First guests arrived. Dd1 vomited. changed her clothes, washed her hair. Had party tea. In middle of party tea, dd2 vomited copiously over me, dd1, and the tea "table" (in the garden, on a rug). We all went and got changed again, washed hair again, and proceeded with the party. dd1 vomited again. Cue another change of clothes.

Then all the guests went home and 90% of them spent the whole bank holiday weekend following vomiting. We weren't popular. I would cancel.

Oooh, fantastic, that is convincing. Thank you. Have had lovely chat with friend just now and I am going to hers for a coffee with dd1 as dh is on nights and has just got up . DD2 has eaten two plain pittas and some toast since lunch time and kept them down so I am glad she seems over it, but I didn't know that this morning. Feeling better now had lovely chat with friend. Mobile phone calls are always a pain...
