To think emails from Parcelforce and EVRI are all scams

I have an email from EVRI from [email protected] and a button to press for redelivery. But how do they have my email? How do I know if it's genuine?

I haven't ordered anything but wondered if one might be a birthday gift for one if the family.

How do you know?

I suppose it depends if they ask you for any money at some point. If they do, then it’s a scam as delivery has already been paid for.

WhereIsMyLight · 18/03/2024 09:43

With EVRI they email saying we have your parcel for delivery. If it is genuine, delivery should be attempted and then either left somewhere safe or taken away and a card left. You can then follow those emails to rearrange delivery. As you haven’t ordered anything, I’d leave it until you have a delivery attempt.

Floatlikeafeather2 · 18/03/2024 09:47

Ignore it. Evri only have the email address of the customer. They are very good at keeping customers informed but they don't offer a "we'll let your auntie know it's on its way" service. The email would also tell you where the item was coming from and give you a tracking number. Unless you're waiting for something you know will be coming via Evri, that has been ordered by you, do not click any links or give any information. Scammers are able to get hold of anyone's email address very easily.

I find that the scam emails are just too generic and vague. Same with texts - just a link saying your parcel needs redirecting/paid for blah blah. No name or tracking ID etc. also sometimes if you copy and paste the email sent from address into Google, it won’t take you to a genuine Evri site.

Everything is just a bloody scam these days. It pisses me off so much that life is increasingly difficult as someone trying to rob you or rip you off on a daily basis. I hate the feckn internet!!

Piffle11 · 18/03/2024 09:53

I get quite a few deliveries from Evri, and they’ve never sent me an email like that. The only emails I get from them are, ‘we’ve got your XX parcel’ or, ‘your XX parcel is now with the courier for delivery today between X and X time’. If I’m ever out and miss the delivery m, I usually have a card left telling me where it is (safe place or neighbour). Never had a redelivery email. And if you’re not expecting anything, then I’d ignore.

Ambergrease · 18/03/2024 09:59

Ignore, it’s the latest scam. I get them from “Royal Mail” too.

I try and file my receipts in a separate email folder so I know what I’ve ordered and when to expect it, that way I can check delivery status via a link I know is legitimate.

Had evri scam text " attempted delivery ". Late at night. Total
lie, I could see the front door.
Was even more suspicious when " redelivery " text asked for date of birth amongst
other details.

Items were delivered by a total different company next day complete with driver update/delivery time etc

bananabreadbatshit · 18/03/2024 10:20

Never click on a link from within an email. Any legitimate company will have a website you can go to independently and add the tracking info manually.

Also check the sender email and manually type the company into your browser.
Eg Evri-reports.com doesn't exist but Evri.com does and is a legitimate site.

KrisAkabusi · 18/03/2024 10:43

The most obvious clue in your OP is that the email isn't from Evri! It's from a different email address.

Allshallbewell2021 · 18/03/2024 10:47

Thank you all 🙏🙏.
I assume everything is a scam now and never ever click on something in an email.
It's just I sometimes wonder- am I going too far with my paranoia!

I've been getting them from "Evri" and "Royal Mail" but where are the cards they leave coz there's none? I actually can't always keep track of orders for the whole household but I designate them all as Spam

TimeandMotion · 18/03/2024 11:13

I got a scam text from “Royal Mail”

I knew it was a scam because it ended with
“Royal Mail wishes you a great day!”

Muppets.
