To ask what is going on with Ebay?

I'm a long time seller on Ebay, almost 20 years. I have always sold everything I list, no matter how shit it is. This past year, very little has sold.
Anyone any idea why? Is it the cost of living crisis or Is Ebay trying to pull a fast one and attempting to make us 'promote' all the listings at extra profit to themselves? I never do this, is this where I'm going wrong?

I used to buy loads on ebay but tend to buy from Facebook marketplace and Vinted now. Ebay is just so full of businesses selling cheap tat and it's really hard to filter them out if you're looking for decent second hand stuff.

Oh, I can't bear the hassle of Facebook Marketplace. All the local chavs messing about, not replying to messages, not showing up, etc.
PayPal and eBay makes people put their money where there mouth is.

Vinted seems OK, but is it only for clothes, bags and fashion etc.....?

As a buyer I now normally select auction only (as git so fed up with all the crap I wasn't interested in) and that narrows down my search, I then filter by lowest price (including postage).
As a seller, I never charge postage (take it into account for my asking price) and start the auction at the lowest point I'm willing to accept. If I do buy it now I add an offer option. My buy it now price is always my top price point, which means I'll always accept a 'reasonable' offer.
I find that selling small bundles shifts more stuff, because ultimately buyers still want a bargain, and with the cost of postage bargains on single items tend to be harder to get.

That's on eBay.
Can't stand fb marketplace, and never got on with vinted. Still sometimes use gumtree for more cumbersome items.

You inspired me to give vinted a go again and I've sold something already. Very delighted, so much shit to get rid of!

I'm moving and have sold about 15 things in the last two weeks.

Items ranging from £10 to £165.
My top tip is your photos!

I have a mini photoshoot for everything in really good lighting.

People are so visual now and need something that makes them stop scrolling.

I was trying to sell these things with just basic photos and they didn't sell, I re did the photos and I've sold at least one thing every day.

It's so weird, but that's the only thing I can see that is different.

EBay has been over for years.

Everyone is selling and buying on Vinted. Much more user friendly and cheaper.

This in a nut shell

eBay decided to deal with the competition by... getting worse!
It used to show you what you searched for quite accurately, now it brings up other semi-related stuff you're not looking for.
It's full of cheap Chinese tat.
The search filters are too annoying: on Vinted I can search, say, "Cos dress" pick size 14, and that's what I'll get; on eBay you have to jump through loads of category hoops before being able to pick a size.
If you change your search slightly it boots all your current filters so you have to redo them.
I think once people get used to just buying stuff they like when they see it the auction is very annoying: you have to wait for it and be ready to bid at the right time, and have no idea how much something is going to cost or if you'll get it.

It's Vinted all the way for me!
