To not want to do Disney at 27 weeks pregnant?

I’m due #3 in August. This rules out a holiday during the summer holidays realistically.

DH would like to go to Disney Land Paris for May half-term. I’ll be 27 weeks then and am not keen. We were only just there last summer and I’m under no illusions about just how much walking the parks involve and how much time is spent standing in queues, which would be exhausting at that stage of pregnancy especially if it ends up being hot. I’ve also had gestational diabetes previously so am trying to eat super well (ideally sugar free) which would be very difficult to do there.

I’ve said he could take the older two (they’re three and five) on his own if he really wants to but he’s not gone for that.

Am I a killjoy?

I went to Disney in Florida at about that much pregnant. It was fine. I just factored in the weariness and we took it easier than we might have.

I would not be going either. Is there somewhere else you could suggest going that would be easier on you?

Crunchymum · 16/03/2024 11:44

Can't you all go somewhere else?

bzarda · 16/03/2024 11:45

I have no experience myself but saw on Instagram this week if you're pregnant Disneyland Paris give you a fast pass so you don't have to queue for rides or food at their restaurants/in their hotels etc.

Ultimately though you're the one who is pregnant and know how you feel/what you could cope with, so do whatever makes you the most comfortable. There will always be other years and times to go.

Went around 16 weeks and it was not fine. Got food poisoning at the (Disney) hotel buffet and spent 3 days throwing up, etc.
I’d give it a miss if I were you.

We went to the Paris one last August when I was about 25 weeks with number 3 (also had GD). I was exhausted by the end of the day but I still enjoyed it. We stayed at the nearby Center Parcs which we loved and was a nice place to retreat to and chill at the end of the day, we also has a couple of days there in the pool etc. You could stay there, let them visit the Disney parks and book yourself into the spa during the day!

HippeePrincess · 16/03/2024 11:48

Oh god no, hell on earth at the best of times never mind 6 months pregnant. If you all went last year you basically never need to go again. You can have a much nicer holiday than that!

32degrees · 16/03/2024 11:48

Don't do it.

I took DC 3 and 5 to theme parks in my second trimester- it was exhausting, middle child threw tantrums every day, my back was killing me, I couldn't lift him, impossible to eat well.

Do a holiday where you can lie by a pool.

Gcsunnyside23 · 16/03/2024 11:49

I went at similar stage and got a pregnancy pass so anything I could queue for we got to jump like meet and greets with princess and characters, priority spot for parade and any rides I could go on. Them anything I couldn't my husband took them. It was actually way more enjoyable than when not pregnant. Maybe look into it and see if that might work

Lovingitallnow · 16/03/2024 11:52

So much walking, loads of rides you can't do, I'd sooner go in a years time and at least you can do child swop for some of the rides. I took a 9 month to Disney and it was lovely. I can't imagine going pregnant. It's so much money and I don't think I'd enjoy it.

Why don’t you all go somewhere else? Seeing as you only just went recently. Maybe somewhere your children can experience another culture and history?

jeaux90 · 16/03/2024 12:05

Nope sounds horrendous. Let them go on their own or book a nice beach break in the UK.

Interestingly mixed responses. Yes I’d much rather something along those lines too. Disney two years in a row seems a bit much to me. I’m not a great fan of the commercialization, junk food, etc. for the children either. DH is a real Disney freak though and I’ve always known that introducing it to his own children was going to be a huge thing for him.
