Anyone miss the early 2000’s and feel sad that we’re moving further away from those time?

Just that really. I know every era had its ups and downs. I do remember the downs of the early 2000’s as well as the ups but I just think it was generally a better time with less depressing things going on and more community feel and support. I grew up in that time period and yeah I didn’t have the best childhood and there was crappy times but also there was loads of great times. I would love to experience the 00’s as an adult. If only time machines actually existed lol. I feel sad that my kids will never experience the early 2000’s and how time has passed by. I know I sound like a saddo lol. I miss the people too.

There is a tendency to rose tint the past but I don't think this is what this is. I think it's about how the future looks from here Vs how it looked then. Anything can happen obviously but in 2006 the future was probably going to have good things, progression, and improvement in it along with the usual dose of crap. It's hard to see anything but the crap in the future at the moment.

That's not really talking about facts but about outlook based on how things are now. If it were just my view I'd say it was depression but it isn't just my view is it.

Thanks so much for all the posts. I loved hearing different opinions about 00’s nostalgia and especially everyone’s individual stories and memories. Yes I think a lot of people look back on their favourite era whether that was when they were growing up or just in general a really good point in their lives. I think sometimes things can be rose tinted because bad crap has always happened in every era. I have a lot of good memories from the early 00’s between 2000 to 2006. 2007 until 2011 was crap tbh as I was going through an awkward teen phase were I basically hated myself and everything lol. The 90’s were good too. I think also I miss family members and loved ones who I knew from that time period who are sadly no longer here such as grandparents. I remember going to Disneyland in 2003 with my granny, auntie and cousins at that Christmas and I was that annoying kid who kept on saying are we there yet lol. Before I went I begged my parents to not let me go because Christmas was the best time in my house growing up but I’m glad they talked me into it lol. Also a lot of other good holidays from that time. Just the vibe of the early 2000’s was better than today
