To think that 7 is too young for body odour?

DS7 is occasionally getting BO. Is this normal?? Seems a bit young. Anybody any experience of this?

I first smelled BO on my DD when she was 5.

It wasn’t often but became more frequent.

I dreaded her going into precocious puberty but that hasn’t happened.

My boys both were like that from that age onwards. Just need to get them into showering more often, properly cleaning and using deodorant.

My Ds8 has just started smelling a little too! We had a chat about it and I bought him a natural kids deodorant from Amazon. It's a roll on and he uses it every morning as part of his routine! Haven't smelt anything since Smile

Hmm that is very young. I'd be speaking to a GP just to make sure. I know they say kids are starting young these days but I can’t think of any reason for this to be the case.
My DC is 10 and hasn't had this happen yet. Def get confirmation from a HCP

Dd was like that from about age 6. I was, really surprised at the time.

There are children in my Reception class that have body odour. It tends to be intermittent. So don't panic ... I've always assumed it's due to hormone surges/stress etc.

I'm obviously not a doctor, but please be reassured that this isn't unusual.

My ds10 ( nearly 11) has had strong body odour since he was 7. He’s very sporty so has lots of showers and he uses a deodorant. Didn’t have this with my older 3. He doesn’t have any other signs of puberty.

I have a 10 year old with no body odour at all and an 8 year old who needs to wear deodorant as otherwise she gets a bit whiffy. She doesn’t have any other signs of puberty, just stinks a bit! She’s very active and does a lot of sport/dance/gymnastics. We just make sure she showers often and wears child friendly deodorant.

My son and daughter had phases of this from the age of about 9 onwards. I put it down to a spike in hormone levels because it wasn't consistent. Funnily enough it settled down after a few weeks and they stopped being honky. Obviously taught them about deodorant at the time.

I was worried at the time about precocious puberty, but it turned out that wasn't an issue. It's just like another kind of growth spurt.
