Campervan not a proper holiday?

We have a small campervan which we use for mini breaks - couple nights in Lake District etc, when we can. We have a dog so she comes too.
it’s nice, but I really want a ‘proper’ holiday! You know, nice warm sun, swimming pool, cocktails in a beach bar….
OH not keen on flying though so I am having a hard job trying to persuade him. He thinks the campervan is fine. Well, firstly it’s usually raining here even in summer. When we go in the van I have to put all the clothes, food etc in and make sure it’s clean. On return I empty and clean it all again - same s**t different location!! OH does the gas, engine checks etc etc so he does help a bit.
aibu wanting a proper holiday?

We took van and dog around Italy and France a couple of years ago. Fabulous holiday!!

Does he cook and wash up on holiday or leave it all up to you?
If he expects you to do it then he is getting more of a holiday than you are, and he is being very unreasonable and selfish.

Lisa Simpson snarked at her mother to the effect that Marge gets to do housework in a different location. I think that applies here.

I can only relate to this when I did a lot of SC holidays when the children were young. As my late MIL said you 'swapped one kitchen sink for another' You all need to compromise and mix it up a bit - Campervan/Train/Fly.

I hate any holiday where I have to cook or clean

I did all that when the DC were young with groups of friends and none of us want to do that anymore not since the DC hit their teens

You're not being unreasonable because your idea of a holiday isn't a week in a campervan. I'd love that as don't like flying or being too hot. To be honest when you've got kids, a holiday is just a change of the 4 walls, it isn't a real holiday!

You're ignoring the "why can't you drive somewhere sunny" questions.
