Shaving your head for charity

Someone I know is shaving their head for charity. I just don't see this as 'fun'. I can't decide whether IABU as this is sensitive for me. I have recently lost my hair due to medical treatment. Although it was probably the least of my worries, it was obviously not fun and a visual reminder of the shit I was going through.

I'm not against people raising money but if you have lost your hair it isn't 'fun'.

So AIBU for wanting this type of fundraising to stop or do I need to just let it go?

I’m going through chemo at the moment and have lost my hair. People shaving their hair for charity doesn’t bother me one bit, if that’s what they want to do good for them. 😊

There is no need for it - I don't think anyone would think 'I'll give to Charity X if Jane shaves her head, but I won't if she does a sponsored walk'

I find it very narcissistic and attention seeking, I particularly hate when parents talk there children into donating their hair then plaster it all over social media for ‘likes’. Just give money to charity. No need to dress up needing attention as virtuous.

I know three people who have done it. Two had partners with cancer and the third had completed treatment for leukaemia (and is doing it again because he raised so much for research).

I certainly couldn’t criticise any of them.

A family member shaved her head for charity, she actually used an ex boyfriend's uncle as the 'I'm doing this to raise money in memory of...' She barely knew the bloke, she met him about twice and no longer had contact with the ex. So yes, it was absolute attention seeking which she is well known for.

It was like that ice bucket challenge, half of the pillocks I saw doing it I seriously doubt they gave any money to the charity. It was for attention.

I'm not saying all people who shave their heads for charity are attention seeking or bad but if I had lost my hair due to chemo then a friend did it, not sure I'd be too thrilled to watch her hair growing back while mine didn't.
