I can’t use it. It makes me sting and burn and actually makes things worse but I’m super sensitive. I just ride it out and shower just with water for a few days.

buzzheath · 14/03/2024 15:50

@Potentialmadcatlady Thanks for responding! I applied it late morning and it's still burning. Is this normal for you too?

I find it really soothing as it stops the itching. If you have very sensitive skin or it's kind of raw then I could see why it would hurt a bit. As long as it works keep using it, maybe put a cold or warm compress over the area while you feel the burn.

SableGrape · 14/03/2024 15:55

Iirc it has a lot of alcohol in it which isn't great on sensitive areas or sore skin. 😕

MadamVastra · 14/03/2024 15:55

It does say that it may burn and sting though tbf so at least you're prepared

Skiphopbump · 14/03/2024 15:58

It always made things worse for me. The tablets (which you can buy cheaply online) are much better.

Pigeonqueen · 14/03/2024 16:00

Thrush itself can make your skin really sore so when you apply the cream it can sting at first. If you keep going with it the thrush will clear up and the stinging will stop. But if you can’t stand it you can take Fluconazole orally instead. (I am under a specialist for invasive long term thrush).

Hmmm I would normally burn for an hour or two but I just don’t use it any more. I get it when I have to take steroids so I now ask GP for tablet at same time as she prescribes the steriods.

wendyelliott · 14/03/2024 16:11

Yep. Burns me too. Then I have to wash it off which causes more soreness Confused

buzzheath · 14/03/2024 16:13

@wendyelliott I'm probably freaking out for no reason, but does yours also burn for a long time after applying? I'm worried I'm having some kind of awful reaction or something

Andarna · 14/03/2024 16:16

Never felt it burn. It really helps me with the itching

difficultspaghetti · 14/03/2024 16:31

Personally it's never burned or stung me. I get the initial 'hot' feeling and then it's soothing.

I would have a long warm shower and let the water run over yourself. Then air dry that bit, stick on a big tshirt/nightie and a warm dressing gown and let the ‘air at your bits’ as much as possible over next couple of days.. cotton knickers and lose clothing the rest of the time

ChocolateRat · 14/03/2024 16:57

Not that I've noticed. There's a hot tingly sensation for a few seconds then it's fine. Maybe you're leaving it a lot later before treating, so the skin is very raw and cracked already? Or maybe you're just more sensitive to the ingredients.

existentialpain · 14/03/2024 17:03

You might be sensitive to it. It made me worse so I had to wash it off.

Shakeandstirred · 14/03/2024 17:04

I have vulvadynia the support group I am in a number of their vulvadynia has been caused by thrush creams. So yes it can definitely cause stinging and burning.

enchantedsquirrelwood · 14/03/2024 17:05

I think it can sting at first but if you can get past the first five minutes it is very soothing.

WashableVelvet · 14/03/2024 17:07

I find it stings for a long time and makes the skin raw. Fluconazole tablet much better.

Chaiilatte · 14/03/2024 17:21

same here op, burns like hell.

amylou8 · 14/03/2024 17:32

Yep burns me too, but that preferable to the itch.

BridgetRandomfuck · 14/03/2024 17:35

I spoke to a doctor about this a few years ago and she told me that quite a few women are actually allergic to it! She prescribed me a cream with a different active ingredient (can't remember the name, sorry). Might be something to bear in mind and speak to a doc about.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 14/03/2024 17:44

Natural yogurt is a traditional remedy worth trying.

For up to 10 minutes. It does settle but sometimes I have to wash it off.
