Hi!

Does anyone have the number for Iceland's payroll department please?

I don't work for them but my partner does and he's telling me he hasn't been paid. That's a bigger problem but I want him to ring them in front of me because I'm fed up of him never paying his way!

I would aim much higher. That's a whiny man child and liability

scaredofff · 13/03/2024 21:11

He lied about you being in hospital to get time off?
What a loser op!
You're only dragging out the breakup by waiting on the payslips/manager/next lie. I'd just cut it off sooner rather than later and tell him this was the last straw and he is lazy.

ThirtyThrillionThreeTrees · 13/03/2024 21:23

It would be trending on twitter if Iceland staff weren't paid.

It isn't.

He's full of shit.

You know this already.

puzzledout · 13/03/2024 21:26

So he doesn't know his payroll department number

He can't access his payslip

He can't do online banking

But he is playing you like a fiddle!

Why are you with him?

Chitterlina · 13/03/2024 22:15

Wish I had a fiver for every time someone (usually a parent of a teen to be fair) ranted down the phone at me about their dear whatever being short changed… when in reality the lazy little shit had skived off. Oh, and yes, problem with the payroll app/seeing pay slips all v familiar territory in Payroll management.

Sorry OP, but glad you are on to him.

Do yourself a favour and Make your on/off boyfriend permanently off!

Why are you with him?

Because it was really good for the first few months! Just think now he's showing his true colours 😬😕

Good luck with getting this wastrel out of your home and out of your life.

What an absolute creature.

ThinWomansBrain · 13/03/2024 22:46

you've been with him since November
so this is the 'honeymoon' period

sounds terrific

Mine have been online only for years. I’m not saying he isn’t lying though

NamingConundrum · 13/03/2024 22:49

Why are you wanting him to show you this and do that? He's clearly talking out of his arse. What you planning on doing with your big gotcha moment? Why does it matter? Why is it worth your energy? Surely the fact you're posting on here asking for a number to call them to catch him out shows you its long since done. Ditch him and move on, this drama is unnecessary.

We don't live together, thank God! He's staying over tonight but that's it.

OP good for you!

LakeTiticaca · 13/03/2024 22:56

My ex was like this. Constant lies. Claims that he had lent money to his friends etc.
Used to take money from my purse that was meant to buy food for the kids.
Kicking him out was the best days work I ever did.
Get rid of him. He's a liar and he won't change

gamerchick · 14/03/2024 11:35

Haven't been so happy to hear a couple don't live together for a long time. Thank jebus!!

SableGrape · 14/03/2024 12:44

I've just made another thread for more general advice because he really dropped me in it this morning!

Told him it's over today too so it's been a real red letter day! 😣😣😣

I used to work for them but it was years ago and I think I was on paper payslips then, so glad to have moved on from minimum wage slog. It really is hard work for the pennies you get. A lot of people think working in retail etc is easy as you don't take work home but it really is awfully draining. I work in a lecturing role now and yes gake some work home but my life is generally much easier and more comfortable than when I did jobs like that.
Anyway OP, what I formation do you think he is withholding/ being unclear about? That he can't afford to pay his share of stuff? The o ly way to know is it he shows you and you look into the issue together.
I wojld add if he's being overtaxed that could come into it as I know at times when I've changed jobs I've been put on the wrong tax code and they've ended up owing me in excess of £1k by the time it's been sorted, but you have to call HMRC to correct it. Last time it took me over an hour of wsiitng on the phone!
