I know it's wrong area but for traffic. 11 adults for Easter Sunday lunch. 8 kids too

Children will be fed first for ease but adults after.

Hot dishes always do lasagne spag salads etc. So something different ? No one likes lamb. other suggestions, could be sit down or buffet ? Anything prepared before would be great ? Reheated.

Have air fryer double oven.

Salmon Wellington is yummy and fairly easy, mainly an assembly job (I never make my own pastry) www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/salmon-en-croute

If lamb is an option www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/one-pan-easter-lamb or the Jamie Oliver slow cooked lamb recipe is very good

Interesting vegetarian dish www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/easter-riviera-pie

Chicken pot pie www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/spring-chicken-pot-pie

When cooking for a large number of people I always try and do something which can just be put in the oven and brought out done. So, a casserole of some kind, or a pie maybe. Pies always go down well in my household as they look as if a great deal of work has gone into them... but basically they are just a tasty casserole with a lid, and sometimes a bottom as well. (And I always buy ready-made pastry). I would probably do a steak pie, with kidney if everyone likes it, or mushrooms, or just onions, with new potatoes in their skins and some easy veg. Some extra gravy (as all my family like their food swimming in gravy) and Bobs your uncle.
I made a delicious lemon pavlova from a Delia recipe for pudding one year, but basically anything which can be prepared in advance, looks impressive, and doesn't need any last-minute faffing around with gets my vote!

BarrelOfOtters · 13/03/2024 15:01

I'd do a ham, a couple of chickens, and crispy roast potatoes or jackets. And salad stuff.

SagaNorensPorche · 13/03/2024 15:03

Personally I'd do charcuterie platters with bread for starters so kids and adults can pick then everyone has lasagne / bolognese (even if staggered times for kids/ adults). Bulk that up with sides of mozzarella salad, breads. Lasagne is a perfect meal for a crowd IMO.

If you want to go fancier for the adults maybe do Greek style oregano chicken, Greek lemon potatoes and Greek salad + pitta / bread and dips.

Whatwouldnanado · 13/03/2024 15:33

I would do a big lasagne, hot garlic bread and salads. Look on Pinterest for ideas for Easter platters - fruit bunny rabbits etc to make pudding fun. I always make a chocolate marble cake in a ring mould cover with ganache and chopped flake to look like a nest and fill with chocolate eggs.

Thank you. We have lasagne meats cheeses a lot at family gatherings 😂😬.

We always go tajines - one veggie, and one meat! For the children, we make an 'unchallenging' one (chicken, veggies we know they like, spices but nothing hot) and so it eats like chicken and rice to them, and then we do a paneer tajine with preserved lemons, and a chicken and olive one. We either serve with pilaf or a mound of cous cous (add in caramelised onions, pomegranate seeds, chopped apricots and toasted almonds into it). Serve with yoghurt flatbreads and feta and you've got a truly delicious feast! Even better is everything can be made before and frozen :)

Pudding will be a hot cross bun marmalade bread and butter pudding :)

TheKeatingFive · 13/03/2024 19:01

Beef Bourgogne is my go to for entertaining adults. It can be all done the day before. Serve with mash and purple sprouting broccoli. It's totally disaster proof.

Then you could do something simple like sausages for the kids to go with the mash?

Do you have a recipe for that chicken? Sounds amazing

@FishersGate Yes! It's essentially this recipe, but use hot cross buns instead of panettone :)

Thank you !

I don't but it's really easy, just stuff a chicken with lemon halves, garlic and fresh oregano and mix up lemon juice, dry oregano, olive oil and salt & pepper. Rub that mix into the whole chicken. Cover with foil and roast as normal - take foil off for last 40 mins to brown the skin.
