Ryan air flight change

Overthebs · 13/03/2024 09:41

Hello

booked a week ALinc in Morocco for June, first family holiday with our little one and just hoped for a chilled week away in the sun.
Booked with On the beach, and they get you to self book the Ryanair flights.
Ryanair have requested to bring the flights forward 1 day and 12 hours..
Ive contacted on the beach as I feel they should swap the dates free of charge as it’s not our fault Ryan air have done this,
On the beach seem to think we should just cancel, but we got a really good deal? And it’s now more expansive to book for the other dates in June!
AIBU to cancel the whole thing or should we Just go and forfeit nearly two days? Also should on the beach be refunding us at least a days hotel costs?

Is your return flight earlier too?

Oh sorry didn’t make it totally clear in the OP, they want to bring return flight home forward by like 1 day + 12 hours so 21st at 9pm to 19th at 6am !

You're stuffed really, On the Beach is not ATOL protected so you haven't got the protection that an AI package holiday normally comes with.

budgiegirl · 13/03/2024 09:57

There's not much you can do. On The Beach don't have to change the dates for you. Ryanair can change the flight at this notice, and you can only accept or cancel. I assume you've checked to see if you can book an alternative flight, perhaps from a different airport?

Is your hotel refundable at this point? If it is, at least you have the choice of cancelling the whole thing. Very frustrating I know, but these are the risks you take by sorting the flights/hotel separately rather than doing a package.

Oh really? I got a ATOL certificate off them when I booked! And it’s plastered all over their webpage

On The Beach are ATOL registered, but I believe it only protects holidays where flight and hotel are booked as one. It sounds like you booked flights and hotel separately? So this wouldn't come under the ATOL protection as it's not technically a package.

WatchandWaitorNot · 13/03/2024 10:05

ATOL isn’t relevant unless On the Beach go bust.

Red herring.

WatchandWaitorNot · 13/03/2024 10:06

Have you asked OTB about refunding 2 days’ accommodation? Without knowing their position on this it’s difficult to comment.

Chersfrozenface · 13/03/2024 10:08

ATOL covers flights only.

ABTA covers other aspects of the holiday. On The Beach isn't a member of ABTA.

There's a handy guide on the two associations here.

GasPanic · 13/03/2024 10:19

There is always a price for booking stuff separately.

For example you can often get to a place cheaper with two different airlines changing at one airport. But if the first airline is late getting you there then you are pretty much stuffed for the onward flight as the second airline takes no responsibility for the lateness of the first, whereas if both flights are booked with the same airline they will sort you out alternatives FOC.

KrisAkabusi · 13/03/2024 10:38

It's the risk you take when not booking a package. Your flight changes have nothing to do with OTB, so they have no need to refund you.

GinForBreakfast · 13/03/2024 10:49

Sorry - yes I meant ABTA. There was another thread about Love Holidays and they are the same.

Hello, thank you -
we did book a ‘package’ flight hotel, transfers etc.. just for some reason otb now give a flight voucher and ask you to physically log on and book the flights yourself? Not sure why.
anyways OTB have offered a full refund.. but I’m upset because it was such a good deal, and I hoped that otb would offer to change the dates free of charge since the ‘package’ holiday we booked is now not possible. But I guess they’re in their rights to say your not covered for change of flights and so refund is the only option.
I want to cancel as I feel 1500 is a lot for 5 nights, husband is wanting to still go but maybe see if OTB will honor a night or so refund. I’m waiting for someone in operations from otb to call me about it!

@Overthebs they make you book them so they aren’t responsible for them

Lanawashington · 13/03/2024 12:36

We had something similar recently with Ryanair changing our flights that were part of an OTB package. I did have a look and it is clearly stated in OTB t's & c's that flights are nothing to do with them and can be changed at any point and they hold no responsibility for any costs that might incur to us

LlynTegid · 13/03/2024 12:38

You are stuffed as it were.

If you go, make it your last ever Ryanair flight.

Agree, it is a way of disassociating themselves from any issues with the flights.

Overthebs · 13/03/2024 12:49

WatchandWaitorNot · 13/03/2024 12:31

Thanks we are looking to cancel and pay a bit more and go with TUI!

So I guess the fact they’re offering a full refund is decent enough- from what I’ve read if the flight change is within 24hrs your stuffed- but because ours is loads out we’re getting offered the full refund !

I’ll never use Ryanair or OTB again- lesson well learnt- although my MIL has booked with them loads and no issues!

Jesus Christ it’s criminal! And no one monitors this- like it’s so misleading you think you’re getting a decent well covered package deal but it’s all a lie and they know people don’t read the small print! I will in future 🤞🏽😡
