Party invites - first timer here

This will be the first time I'm organising a party for my son.

Is 3 weeks prior about right to send a party invite? I've got nothing to go off as there hasn't been any other school parties in his class yet (reception) with the exception of a girls only one. My son is in a mixed class of Y1 and R , there are 12 reception kids , only 5 boys including my son. I'm planning on inviting the 12 R kids to the party, along with a couple of family friends.

I've just reserved a soft play centre for 12th May , Easter hols run 28th March to 15th April, so if I send them on the 15th do you think this would be enough notice?

Not really AIBU, but when I've posted in other threads I haven't had many responses.

I'd just sent a text round now, why not? You should get more attendees.

All fine, just get the invitations out ASAP. Be prepared for some no responses and have to chase them. Some will ask if siblings can come. Be clear that's fine as long as they are paid for separately (most will offer to do this anyway)

There is no class WhatsApp at our school

As in send them now? I thought that would be too early, but I could send them before Easter hol break. I don't mind about siblings as ive booked an exclusive centre that can hold 35, price is the same regardless of who turns up.

I would. We had an invitation for a party in Feb half-term that was sent before Christmas and one in the Easter holidays where invitations were sent in Jan.

I've never managed to be that organised to have it booked that far in advance but as you have got it booked there's no need to hold fire on the invitations

Send them now in case someone else has a party on the same day.

Send them as soon as you can, with an rsvp date and asking for dietary needs. Around that rsvp date, send a text to those not replied to check they got the invite ok.
Then the day before text to say looking forward to seeing them tomorrow.

EasterIssland · 12/03/2024 12:34

I sent mine a few weeks ago for middle April. Most people have reply already.

Catsandcuddles · 12/03/2024 12:40

OK in that case I'll order the invites and get them sent out asap then 😊

Send them now.
Families with older siblings can be really busy at weekends, and summer brings cricket too.

MaggieFS · 12/03/2024 14:49

I agree do them now. 12thMay will come round very quickly after Easter.

Make sure you include an RSVP by date, which gives you free rein to then chase people who haven't replied. I'd set that for three weeks beforehand. Also ask people to let you know of any dietary requirements. And state the finish time as well as the start time.
