Presenting gift to work colleague

Please be gentle Mumsnet, posting on AIBU for variety of opinions. Here’s situation at work, one of the team will be celebrating a special milestone soon. All fine and we normally buy a token gift but one of the bosses decides that to make it a bit more special, it needs to be something personalised. They get sent another team member shopping. I have no idea this is happening but then with a day’s notice they ask me to hand it to the person. The person is my direct report but we’re based in different offices.
Would I be unreasonable to say no and someone else can present the gift? The big boss maybe.

YANBU.
I would suggest that the person who has decided to make this occasion 'bigger' than other, previous colleagues' 'big occasions' can present the gift to them.

Unless the offices are really far away, I would, gently, say YABU

Fine. Then this boss can present it.

Yes, that.

This person is my direct report

That’s why this is a reasonable request. Why are you being difficult about it?

KrisAkabusi · 12/03/2024 00:12

Why would you not present it? I can't see any reason why you wouldn't.

BusyJerseyMum · 27/04/2024 16:46

Why don’t you want to give them a gift from the team?
