Four months post birth and belly still a mess

Aibu In thinking my belly isn't going to get much better. I don't mind stretch marks, the saggy skin and overhang I don't think will go away. Aibu?

Mine went back flat both times. 4 months isn't very long at all OP.

Chatonette · 10/03/2024 08:53

My children are both in secondary school. (For context, I am a size 10/12.) Neither of my births were C-Sections, but I do have a slight overhang. My abs have never gone back. I exercise 4x per week and supplement with 10 minute core sessions 2 more days per week. I actually have a 6-pack, which you can see at the top. But the bottom of my core is covered with saggy, wrinkly skin. Lots of it. Under clothes it looks like fat. Surgery is the only option for me, which I’m not prepared to do. Some women bounce back, and others don’t. 😕

I’m not particularly slim (12/14) although tall, but I was this size both pre and post pregnancy and had an elective (clamoured for) a cs, and you can’t tell, I don’t have any overhang. My tummy isn’t as good as it was but I did carry a big baby in there. 4 months is very early, I think you will still carry on seeing an improvement.

This isn’t true. I have had two sections and have no overhang and am back to how I was, albeit with ever so slightly looser skin.

OP, I used a tight belly wrap. It helped return my abs and my core to what it was, and helps you feel stronger and more supported. I think it’s never too late to start.

"Clamour for a cs" 😂😂have a word with yourself @TheShellBeach

OP hasn't said she has a CS.

So stop your nonsense.

Ok OP.

I'm 16 years PP for my youngest.

It's early days @Maryannberlwyn.

I have a flat stomach now.

My fanny is fucked, mind.

@Tetsuo "my fanny is fucked, mind."
Just about spat my coffee across the room at that! 🤣🤣🤣 Same here though, my fanny will never go back to the way it was before kids - I never used to fanny-fart but now a common occurrence 🤣

What a weird thing to say. I've had two ELCS and I don't have an overhang. I didn't "clamor" for a c-section, but I found the idea of vaginal birth terrifying beyond belief. I would absolutely have taken a wrecked stomach over the alternative. Best day of my life was when I discovered DS was breech and that I'd never, EVER have to push a baby out.

OP, 4 months is nothing. I remember feeling the same way, but 2 years after my first I had visible abs for the first time in my life and 8 months after #2 I weighed less than I did before I got pregnant the first time. Be kind to yourself and your body, pregnancy is hard!

We don’t all clamour for a CS @TheShellBeach. For most it’s a necessity.

After 2 c sections I doubt my overhang will ever disappear without some sort of surgery. The most annoying thing is I have to size up in jeans/trousers meaning they’re baggy everywhere else.

I'm the same after two c sections. The overhang won't go, no matter how slim I am.

I also had no choice with my sections (DD was wedged due to face presentation and DS was sideways). I breed them awkward! 🤷‍♀️🤣

Can you give evidence of these women 'clamouring'
I had an emergency section after 50hour of labour and a placental abruption. I don't know a single woman who requested a section.
wtf are you? The daily Mail?

willowsxx · 10/03/2024 12:21

I think you just have to learn to love your new body. My stretch marks have pretty much completely faded though and I'm 11 months pp.

K37529 · 10/03/2024 12:39

@TheShellBeach wtf are you talking about, clamour for a cs? I clamoured for an emergency section with my second because he would have died If I hadn't 🤷
OP it took about 8 months to lose the baby weight after I had a section (if this is what you had) at 4 months I was still swollen. I don't have an overhang, my stomach doesn't look exactly the same as it was before having kids, the skins a little bit saggy but no too bad considering I've had 3 kids and I'm 7 months PP (last was normal delivery), give yourself more time it will get better x
