It stinks. It isn't even a smell I can describe - sort of half way between rancid dairy and sweet. I've been using it for less than 24 hours, woke up this morning with the worst migraine I've had in ages and I think it's because of the litter. Just had some normal clay litter dropped off because it's stinking my entire flat out and I can't stand it. Even though two thick bin bags I can still smell it.

I heard it makes the cats sneeze as well.
We had the food and that didn't go well. Pile of Instagram crap.

Isseywith3witchycats · 09/03/2024 19:51

i use wood pellets it dosent stink what the cats do stinks but easy to scoop up, ordinary clay clumps and sticks to the tray i hate it

I only tried it because I've used similar and really liked it. (it was a "tofu" litter from the Range). Big cat hates wood so that's not an option but I hate clay too so I'm not sure what else to try. Had paper but it tracks like mad!

I prefer the paper to the grit, easier to clean! Sand?

Are there any enzymatic tofu litters available, OP? I can't recommend a brand (I'm in Australia) but ones with activated charcoal can be very good for odour control without being obnoxious themselves.

SusanSHelit · 09/03/2024 21:39

I like corn husk litter. Super light weight, clumps, good at absorbing smells, cheap as chips. It does track quite a bit but isn't nearly as painful to stand on in the middle of the night as clay and is easier to clean up than paper or wood. Lidl do a fantastic version

Isanyonereallyanonymous · 09/03/2024 21:41

Try chick crumb or pellets from a country/agricultural store if you’re after an alternative.
About £12 for a big sack which does my 2 cats for a month, I don’t find it smells and doesn’t track too badly (pellets are better for the tracking than the crumb)

Facinguptothisdebt · 09/03/2024 21:44

We use silica cat litter. It's really good.

fliptopbin · 09/03/2024 21:47

Tried it once, and the cats staged a dirty protest -one of them did a crap in my shoe and one in a plant pot (throwing the soil all over the carpet to cover it.).

Wbeezer · 09/03/2024 22:14

I buy kitten litter, it's wood but in small crumbs rather than large pellets, I suspect it's made from all the leftover bits of the big pellets. It does track though but or let treat is in an unused shower cubicle so that helps!
Chick crumbs is a good idea!

Iloveanicegarden · 09/03/2024 22:18

What are chick crumbs please?

OoohLovelySlippers · 09/03/2024 23:58

Kat kin has 2 types of litter. Eco and health. I like the health one.

QuestionableMouse · 10/03/2024 11:49

I have the eco and will never use it again.
