Parking issue - Inappropriate Pumping?

Background I live on a small side street with 20 houses on it on oneside and some green space on the other, that backs onto a school. You'd think parking was a nightmare it really isn't as no access to the school due to weird road layouts.
Most people on the street don't drive, we are lucky to have fantastic public transport links.

Mr Golf moved onto the street about 3 years ago was very cautious with his parking for the first week - parked across the road where there are no houses. He soon realised that no one else in drove that also lived in his HMO (the end terrace)
He starts parking outside the house 🏠

Just before Xmas I noticed that Mr Golf had started parking across the road again - considering the storms and lack of bringing bins in (a whole thread of its own) my partner thought it may be due to the bins hitting his car.
Roll on Xmas holidays, we notice that Mr Golf drives up parks up, then walks off down the street. Over the next few days it becomes clear Mr Golf has moved, and is still parking on the street.
This is not my issue, there is plenty of space for the 14 or so cars, that generally live on the street (I am grateful it's not hell some streets in the area are a nightmare for parking)

Where it starts.

All week Mr Golf has parked up 7 -7.15am, got out one of them electric tyre pumps and pumped his tyres up. Not an issue I'm up at 6 in the week.

This morning however I am annoyed at being woken up at 7.03 by him pumping his tyres up!
I don't get it he has just parked up! He isn't going anywhere for hours!!! Why do it then? The neighbour has told me he has done it all week before driving off to where ever he goes 🤔 - she works from home.

So wise mums net what do I do? It's mother's day tomorrow. I don't want to be woken up for unnecessary tyre pumping 🙃 in my opinion.

So far we have the following suggestions!

  1. Stick a polite note on his car and ask him to avoid pumpage tomorrow morning so I can have some peaceful 😴 past 7.15am! (Selfish I know)
  1. Suck it up none of our business (leave the man to his newly found pumping desire 🛞 💕 )
  1. Hotwire the car 🚗 and take it to have it's tyres fixed and leave him puzzled to why no pumpageis required (partner and sons most helpful suggestion)
  1. Block him in so he can't go anywhere 🚗🏎🚗(the neighbours suggestion - she is extremely annoyed at being awoken by it all week - logs on at 10 - my kids don't disturb her 😴 She wants to know why he should) - have explained I don't want to intimidate Mr Golf as his parking isn't an issue ✔️ - it's the pumping at 7.am ish

YABU - Leave the man to pump to his little hearts 💕 🛞💞 desire.
YANBU - A note 📝 or some deep seated vengeance is needed 🚗🏎🚗

Note on the car asking him to pump later at weekends

GoldLurker · 09/03/2024 11:45

I'd leave him to it. He needs to pump his tyres, when I am trying to decide if I have a slow puncture I park up then blow up the tyre to see how much it loses over time, you then make the decision whether to have it repaired or inflate until you can replace. He might even be inflating while waiting for a repair/replacement appointment.
That it is mother's day is totally irrelevant you're not his mother and even if you were if he needs to inflate his tyres he needs to inflate his tyres.

GoldLurker · 09/03/2024 11:46

Oh and if I got an arsy note asking me not to, I would run the compressor for longer on purpose. The world doesn't revolve around you and people do work weekends. But I'm petty like that.

Fizzadora · 09/03/2024 11:48

Alternatively you could surreptitiously slash his tyres so that there is no point in him pumping them.
Actually no don't do that it's criminal damage if you get caught.
I despair of cheeky selfish fuckers like this.

Allfur · 09/03/2024 11:48

Goldlurker, so you'd happily wake people up 7am on a weekend cis you're owtty? Nice

Blankspace4 · 09/03/2024 11:50

When I saw the title I thought this referred to an altogether different activity taking place in a parked car on your street 🤣🤣

Allfur · 09/03/2024 11:51

I thought breast pumping

Greenflamesburn · 09/03/2024 11:51

@GoldLurker
Fair enough I think if you live there.
I think I'd have more sympathy,l if he lived on the street - Mr Golf doesn't.
Take out Mothers day - Should he be waking me up using a power tool on a Saturday - possible Sunday morning?
Disturbing not just me but several neighbours that are not his neighbours!

Not the point, but this is an education to me. I thought everyone pumped their tyres at the petrol station for £1 and it took about 5 or10 minutes every 4 months.
I also thought inappropriate pumping was going to be about about expressing milk in a car parked on the road.

pootlin · 09/03/2024 11:53

Someone needs to tell him he has shit tyres and needs to replace them 😂

Why would it need to be an "arsy note"? OP sounds fully capable of writing a polite note.

Couldyounot · 09/03/2024 11:54

If he's having to inflate his tyres every single day then he needs to get them replaced. If they're losing that much pressure that quickly they're getting dangerous.

Greenflamesburn · 09/03/2024 11:54

@Fizzadora
Too many ring door bell 📷 hence suggestion 3 TWOK with good intent 😈😇 stolen fixed and returned would the police really be interested

Same. Tesco for a pound every few months.

SpringSprungALeak · 09/03/2024 11:57

Leave a note.

ScrotumGantry · 09/03/2024 11:57

I'd be tempted to make his life slightly less pointless and let his tyres down a bit every day so he gets something out of pumping them up every day.

Blankspace4 · 09/03/2024 11:59

In all seriousness - I read somewhere this week that more serious road accidents are caused by poor tyre condition than mobile phone use. That shocked me - perhaps you could leave a note with a concerned nature rather than coming across as irritated? He could pick up second hand ones or value ones from Halfords etc for not a great deal and if it saves a life…..

RollOnSpringDays · 09/03/2024 12:02

Sound like he has a slow puncture- my OH went for months doing this instead of just buying a new tyre!

Me too! I was expecting a thread about a BF mother parking up to express.

keenhell · 09/03/2024 12:06

Search for local tyre companies in your area, print details (the more the merrier) and place like flyers under his windscreen wipers!

Greenflamesburn · 09/03/2024 12:07

@RollOnSpringDays
Can you ask him why for me please?
And randomly how close to a tyre shop do you live? We have one less than half a mile away.
Maybe I can understand Mr Golfs mindset then.
