To expect salary to have increased in 10 years?

If you were earning £14 per hour in 2014, what would you be expect to be earning now on the basis that you were in the same job?

I cant believe that I’m being paid the same as all my predecessors, back to when the post was created a decade ago. To be honest I think the job holder was overpaid in 2014 but I still feel that something is not quite right.

Does anyone in the UK get pay rises any more? One of my friends had been in a job 15 years and only got a pay rise last year when her pay would otherwise have hit NMW!
And at that point, they seriously considered sacking her and giving the job to a 21 year old so that the pay didn't have to increase.

Of course some people in the UK still get pay rises.

The NHS is a major employer in the UK, and NHS staff get a pay rise every April.

Many companies in the UK also give their staff a pay rise every year.

But you’ve been there less than a year! It doesn’t matter what other people were earning. Your salary baseline is only ten months ago.

Of course lots of people do. My pay has increased £40k since 2014. I get at least one pay rise every year.

Charity sector is bad I worked for two charities in ten years. They didn't have annual pay rises.

A marine business a friend works for has replaced most experienced staff with kids. MW There was nearly a fatality recently. I wouldn't want to work there.

I've worked at my current workplace for 7 and a half years and with increases of my band and a bit of service pay and pay increases, I'm on £10k more than when I started.

I'm still the same grade, but I do enjoy my job so not arsed about moving up the ladder. Not that you could in our place as it's a very odd/strange place to work.

Second consecutive year they my wages have "increased" less than inflation, this also means a smaller increase than those on pensions or benefits have gotten. It's fucking disappointing to be honest.

I was earning 8 pounds an hour in 1995. I thought that was good at the time. I can’t believe how wages are so low now.
