Not sitting still, fidgeting, not focusing in lessons.

Tabletable · 06/03/2024 23:24

Poor impulse control, social issues, argumentative (all 12/13 year old girls though?!), problems sleeping, excessive talking and/or daydreaming, calling out, zoning out, inability to persevere with tricky tasks/ lack of resilience, constant movement, can’t sit through a film …. all of those if you’re really lucky.

Anything and everything. Honestly, it really can be. It isn't what they do but how they do it. Does that make sense? I think that's why it often gets missed

Makeupbrush · 06/03/2024 23:54

Yes this is what I’m thinking that perhaps because it’s not always a big negative thing I may have missed it
also I am pretty sure I have adhd so again I may have normalised things that aren’t so normal

I have a 12 yo boy- (so not quite your thread)- FH of ND.

We have started process of thinking about assessment…. He’s high achieving, extremely academic but since move to high school it’s become apparent that he can’t find his way out of a paper bag re logistics and organisation.

He might just be slow to develop his executive function, and we have so many (exhausting) systems to try and ensure he meets the demands of school day, prep hand ins, sports kit, music lessons etc etc.

Might have ADD, might not… I’m just watching closely, liasing with school, making supportive changes… and if still the same by summer will push forward with asking for a specialists opinion.

Massive rejection sensitivity, leading to many issues with friends.

Procrastination.

Very poor organisational skills.

Incredibly smart, but in no way reaching her potential.

Drawing on her skin in lessons.

Sleeping for hours and hours.

Bomb site of a bedroom.

Interrupting when others were talking.

Zoning out during lessons.

Very inflexible with thought patterns.

Overthinking/ruminating.
