To think my child at nursery

AIBU to think when my child is in nursery; he should have his face/hands wiped?

I have routinely picked my child up from nursery with snot clearly smeared all over his face, occasionally food and often whatever messy play he’s been playing with.

Am I being THAT mum expecting for him to have a clean face/hands? Clothes I expect to be covered and don’t care about but I would be so uncomfortable to have something obviously on my face all day that I couldn’t get off. He’s just about to turn 2.

YANBU. My DS comes home from nursery with mostly clean face and hands, maybe a bit of tomato staining, or a little crusty hard to remove bit of snot, or a missed bit of paint on an ear, the same as I might let pass during the day. Definitely not covered like you say.

I'm a cm and I wipe them with warm flannels after each meal and wash hands often. Occasionally I miss a bit or a child has a runny nose i haven't spotted but it definitely isn't dried all over their face.

YANBU. I've been in your shoes and always thought that if we routinely sent kids to nursery in the state they often were when we picked them up, there would be a safeguarding referral.

I’m glad it’s not just me! I’ve hesitated saying anything to them because I’ve complained a couple of occasions to his nursery now for various different things and I didn’t want to seem naggy if that was just part and parcel of going to nursery but to me it’s just basic care and seems really lazy?
