I asked the question yesterday and lots of people replied saying they/their friends were bullied for their name when they were in school.

My question really was are children NOWADAYS bullied for their name by their peers?
As in children aged 18 and under. I wasn't specific enough.

I wonder if these people who had a bad experience in the 70s/80s/90s are assuming it's still the same.

So although I am probably being unreasonable for asking again but being more specific

Are children these days bullied for their name? By other children. I don't mean an adult being a bit sneery . I have put the answer choices randomly

YABU: I have never heard of this in the U18 demographic from other children

YANBU: yes I have heard of children these days being bullied for their name by their peers

Not seen it in my child's peers. We live in a city and there are some unusual names which absolutely would have attracted negative attention in the 80s but the children don't bat an eye at.

I don't think children are these days.
Every class will have such a variety of names - traditional, alternative, from non UK cultures/countries, completely made up, spelt different to the usual.....
The thing is children start school at age 4. They have no idea that Elsie is an "old fashioned" name, Miguel is a "foreign" name, Hayleigh is "spelt wrong" and Bear is "alternative".
They are just the names of their friends.
Unless adults put the ideas into their head they are literally just names.

Not seen it in my dcs school. They all have different names which wasn't the case in the 80s when all boys were called Matt, Pete or Paul and all girls were Rachel, Emma or Sarah.

This is a very good analysis
