Yes a parking one - it confuses me

OK so it's my mums house and I know the neighbour are doing nothing "wrong" or illegal at all it just confuses me.

All the houses have driveways, they fit 1 car. Plenty of space to park outside all of the houses and it's a cul de sac at the edge of town so no passing traffic that ever blocks it up

The neighbour has a car, she parks on her drive. But if her children are visiting they park in front of my mums house yellow and blue, leaving the front of her house with no cars in front of it. If I am down I then just park in front of neighbours house which I don't think they like, 1 'child' said something about wouldn't it have been better to park outside the other house further down the street or something.

I grew up on this road, but not in "mum" house. I've known the neighbours my whole life and they are lovely people I just don't get it!

Am I being unreasonable to think they should park in front of their own mothers house?

There are just many strange people about OP. Next time they say that to you, ask why they parked in front of your mums house and not theirs

100% this.

HoneyWogan · 05/03/2024 15:18

It's certainly a strange 'justification' for an adult (who isn't Homer Simpson) to wheel out: You are clearly bad for doing this; but when I do it, it's cute!

pontipinemum · 05/03/2024 15:21

@twingiraffes there is. All the houses have drive + enough space directly in front of each house for 2 cars to park. So 3 on street spaces if you were to block in the car on the drive. But the road is never full

Do they park on the side of the direction they are driving in so when they set off there not on the wrong side of the rd

PansyOatZebra · 05/03/2024 15:41

Yeah it’s strange. People are odd with parking. We have neighbours who park in front of our house rather than use the allocated parking space round the back… it’s odd.

YellowDots · 05/03/2024 15:45

Is it? Never heard of that. On most residential roads that would leave nowhere at all to park!

Not on streets like that. I live on a narrow road and there is absolutely always someone parked opposite my drive, I couldn't give a hoot.

But I wouldn't park opposite someone's drive where there was plenty of space on the street not to,

Everanewbie · 05/03/2024 15:53

I find this hilarious, sorry OP, its not funny for you. Having a go at the OP for doing exactly what they are doing to her? They clearly have no self awareness at all.

pontipinemum · 05/03/2024 16:08

@Everanewbie it's not a big issue for me. It's my mums house. She lives a few hours away so I normally only go to stay every 2/3 months. I find it strange really is all and wondered what others thought.

I know habits get engrained and that's probably what is going on with the neighbours.

The road is absolutely wide enough for a car to be parked on the street across the road from someone's driveway and for them to reverse out of their drive in 1 easy movement before going on their way.

It is very much so an older style cul de sac with ample space

Defs ignore- the fact they park infront of your mums house but this they can then tell you where to park? Standard sense of entitlement that's spilling out everywhere these days.

If they query it (wouldn't be surprised), tell them to park infront of their house or your mums other neighbour in future?!

Oooh. A diagram made in excel is a first for me.

It's so good

D1LL1GAF · 05/03/2024 17:24

Literally, just park outside the neighbours house next time you visit mum's house. See what is said and take it from there.

something about wouldn't it have been better to park outside the other house further down the street

Well usually I park directly outside my Mum's house, but someone else has today 💁
