Vinted Returns. WWYD?

Hey all.
Sold a coat on Vinted, BNWT.
Buyer has just messaged to say it doesn't fit & can she get a refund.
I've never had this before, I believe I don't HAVE to refund her? But just wondering what the consensus is?
Pics were very clear with one of the size label so to be honest I'm leaning towards not refunding.
Also want to avoid negative reviews though. So advice appreciated!

depends if you think you’d be able to relist and sell again?

but in reality I would say, jog on that’s the nature of the second hand selling space.

bluebird3 · 01/03/2024 13:10

I'd say no and suggest she sell it on herself. You aren't a shop and part of the reason to sell second hand for a big discount is because buyers are risking not being able to try before they buy.

SecondHandFurniture · 01/03/2024 13:11

I wouldn't, she can sell it on.

weaughteaughpeaugh · 01/03/2024 13:12

Nope, Vinted would only side with her for a return if it was "significantly not as described". She'll have to sell it herself.

ERN79 · 01/03/2024 13:14

Thanks all. I agree with you all, just need to formulate a polite reply! 😂 Thanks!

I'm not actually sure if you're obligated to accept a return if it's requested, or whether you have to follow it? I've never had anyone request as a seller.

When incorrect fit has happened to me as a buyer I either resell the item or donate to charity and count it as a loss. Is your buyer aware that they won't get their postage or buyer protection fee refunded plus they'll have to pay for return postage? I think unless they've paid £15+ for the coat then it's not likely worth their time to do it anyway?

Ineedanewsofa · 01/03/2024 13:16

Nope, if she’s clicked accept the transaction is done and she needs to resell. You are not a shop! Also beware these requests as they might start to ask to do things outside of the app (returns, refunds etc) and that’s when you get scammed

She's not yet clicked accept I don't think. But thank you for that heads up. 👍

No for that reason, she’ll need to relist.

I've looked & unless there's an issue with the item then no, just because it doesn't fit doesn't require a refund. It's at sellers discretion.
Good point re the postage, protection fee & posting back.
Coat was only £10 plus postage.
Thank you!

Ah there you go- at least £7 of their £10 original spend would be lost to postage costs and fees anyway. Hope they're understanding. I'm always afraid of getting negative feedback but in the event that your buyer does this you can leave a comment on their feedback so would have a chance to explain the situation to others.

@ERN79

Under vinteds T&Cs an item not fitting is not a reason for a return or refund - unless the seller agrees.

They need to sell on.

If you do accept do not agree to pay the return postage.

If they return they get back the item price, buyers protection and original postage

If they return the item using the label supplied by vinted the cost will be deducted from their refund.

If you go to the help centre and search returning an item it gives all the information.

I replied to say whilst I'm sorry it didn't fit it was accurately described & a clear photo of the label was in the pictures & therefore I was unable to refund. She's replied with fine, I'll sell it myself.
She's not yet clicked to say all ok though. So we'll see!
