he seems to be walking ok but he can suddenly flinch something likes he annoyed with something
no sign of fleas any experience in this ?
he keeps getting up and moving in a circle he seems a bit agitated

A nutritionist told me that the first sign of a food allergy in a dog is in their paws.
You've checked for splinters, sores etc?

idontlikealdi · 28/02/2024 14:24

One paw or all paws? Licking can be a sign of allergy but if one I would be more concerned about injury.

My DD's french bulldog does this and it's allergy related. Check the paw incase of something in it.

How old is your dog? We took ours to the vet for this and he was diagnosed with arthritis.

He was around 15 though.

BobbyBiscuits · 28/02/2024 14:27

It could be dermatitis? Does he have other allergies? The vet can give cream for it but he will need the cone of shame for a few days! Unless there's something stuck in there. Call the vet tomorrow for appointment on pay day.

My dogs paws can get a bit sore in the wet weather sometimes. The flinching sounds like they might have something in the paw though?

Our vet let us pay the week after when I forgot my purse… would yours do something like this?

FriendlyNeighbourhoodAccountant · 28/02/2024 14:32

We have an old mongrel and he was awful with chewing his feet. Tried food exclusion, vet tests, checking for splinters or similar etc and in the end the vet thought it was an allergy of some sort. Maybe grass seed. He's been on Apoquel 8mg a day for about 2 years now and he's like a whole new dog!

Sudden kick and then chewing? Tick. Allergies don’t give dogs a flinch and make them chew. Ticks do.

My oldest does that when she gets a tick.
