Hello all,

I've decided to place my anxiety about the situation on here. Had a job interview on 16th of February which I believe went reasonably well. Was told I would be put forward for another job too as I also had the skills to match that one, no additional interview required.

When asked when I'd hear, they said next Friday 23rd or the Monday 26th at the latest. However, it has been radio silence.

I emailed a member of the recruitment team on Monday to chase a response, only to be told my chaser had been sent onto the relevant team. Who would be in contact shortly.

However, I've heard nothing and even chased again this afternoon.

Should I just assume I've not be successful?

Thanks

I probably would assume and keep applying for other jobs. Bit shit really to keep.people hanging.

I would assume unsuccessful and consider myself lucky to not have been hired by such a flakey company!

Good luck in your search and remember what's for you won't go past you 😊

It's strange isn't it? If I'm unsuccessful, an email wouldn't be hard to just send.

Personally I would assume not, but you may be number two on a shortlist and they are waiting for number one to confirm. Carry on looking and I don't think it's a good ideal to keep chasing now.

Starting to consider this might be a possibility.

Depending on the company, it's possible they're just a bit of a shambles and haven't made a decision. But certainly, at a minimum, they're being discourteous.

For me, this would be a red flag. I always say interview are two-way (as a hiring manager) and if this is indicative of the respect they're likely to show you as an employee, I'd pause to consider if it's a company you want to be part of. I've walked away from roles in the past for this reason, and never regretted it.

I was recruiting recently and one of the people we'd shortlisted for a second interview was off sick and we couldn't close the interviews until a week later than we'd planned to. It doesn't necessarily mean anything!

BobbyBiscuits · 28/02/2024 15:09

Chasing repeatedly won't help. They have their processes and the recruiter will not be in charge of who they select. If it's a big firm it can be they take a little while to get all the candidates they want. Sometimes the second stage is a group interview. But carry on applying for other stuff anyway.
It would be impolite for them not to tell you yay or nay fairly swiftly once decision is made. But some firms say in small print they don't respond to you if were not picked. Seems rude AF to be honest.

Still haven't heard. Yeah I'm guessing it's a no then, just would have been nice to have been informed of what was happening.

Update on this... I still haven't heard and the status of my application still says "in progress." Confused
