I’ve found myself in a bit of a pickle. My dd(3) has naturally curly hair (think ringlet style hair) and I don’t know how to look after it properly. Is there different brushes, techniques or products etc that I should be using on her hair compared to her straight haired sister? Every time I do her hair it just turns frizzy and wavy and looks like she’s been dragged through a hedge. I havE naturally straight hair so this is all new to me. Thanks in advance from a shitty mum that can’t sort their own child’s hair 😂

My son has curly hair I only ever brush it wet with conditioner and I only wash with conditioner too. I wash it quite infrequently as otherwise it gets dry. I spray through the week with a conditioning spray. I never brush it dry

I don't think any products would be suitable or necessary for a 3 yr old. Do you have a picture (of just her hair or similar from Google)

Comb through while wet and scrunch upwards with your hands then leave to air dry. If anything you could put in a tiny bit of kids conditioner as you scrunch.

Her hair looks similar to the finished hair in this link although her hair naturally looks like this whereas this link shows how to achieve this hair style in straight hair

Yeah so as above just scrunch in a little conditioner while still wet and don't brush when it's dry! I dont think a bit of frizz matters with curls

Google the Curly Girl Method!

Straycatblue · 26/02/2024 10:46

Google Curly Girl Method and Wavy Girl method

Are you on fb? = type both into search bar (separately) & lots of Groups with thousands of people in them = join several groups & post for advice, many do before & after pics of successes. They often have "files" in the groups with step by step instructions

Some folk are quite militant about following these regimes to the letter but sometimes it's trial & error to find exactly what works for you

For DD at that age, I used a tangle teaser, baby shampoo and leave in conditioner. Take her to a curly hair hairdresser and get personalised advice. Mine did not recommend the brand she sold in the salon but cheaper, supermarket ones.

You really don't need to do the curly girl method for a 3 year old
