Are police able to investigate who made anonymous report to NSPCC

hello,

just wondering someone has made a anonymous report to NSPCC about me, physically abusing my child and a lot of despicable things which are completely false. It’s on a third account the past two have been closed and dismissed by both NSPCC and SS.

has anyone been in a situation where police get involved and they have found out who it was, and what’s happened to the person who reported it?

any advice would be greatly appreciated! Ta ☺️

I had similar. I can't remember exact details (there were a number of malicious complaints to social services, in amidst of a number of other harassments). Police were able to listen to the calls and identified the caller as we had already reported incidents. (Am deliberately being vague as don't want to be identified).
Ultimately they were charged and convicted of wasting police time and some other charges.
But I think this was a very unusual case and was only successful because of huge amount of evidence and overall picture of harassment.

Understand, no worries I get it. Thanks for sharing your experience and glad that it got sorted out by the police in the end. :)

Sorry, what? Confused

No they won’t I had an anonymous malicious report made about me and it was awful, thankfully I worked out who it was by asking for a copy of the referral then it became clear. They wouldn’t tell you who it was though no.

Yeah - what do you mean ?

I meant that they are just concerned for my safety due to the number of times I have had this malicious report made against me, hope that answers your question. :)

Sorry to hear that, I can understand how it made you feel. Did you ask for a copy from NSPCC or Social Services? Hope you don’t mind me asking.

It was reported directly to SS so asked them for a copy of the report and basically there was a LOT in there that SS hadn’t told me was reported (probably because it was not relevant and quite random things) so it gave it away who it was. If you haven’t already ask for a copy of the referral? I was convinced it was my ex at first and whilst they didn’t say who it was it said it was a woman that called so that obviously ruled him out straight away and I was able to figure out who called them.
