Numb left arm

Posting here for traffic.

my left arm for the past few weeks, I have woken up and it’s been completely dead, numb and tingly with pins and needles - also very weak. It does usually go back to normal but it’s been most mornings now. Well this evening, it’s been about 3/4 hours these symptoms of my arm and it’s not gone away. It’s extremely weak and numb and I cannot use it properly at all. I have no other symptoms and I’m only 27, but I’m all panicky as I know a numb arm is usually a symptom of a stroke.

anyone else know what it could be and if I should seek medical help even if I have no other symptoms and I guess considering it’s been a slow lead up as I have had a numb arm on and off the last few weeks? Don’t want to waste my time and the nhs time if it’s just a nerve issue or something. Just want to be aware as I live alone and scared of something happens then no one will know!

You are not wasting the NHS's time. It's their job to help you.

Get your thyroid checked.

When I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, my thyroid levels were very low and a numb/tingling left arm was my only symptom.

I had none of the other classic symptoms like weight gain or tiredness.

i want to swear this makes total sense. I have had a massive lump on my throat for the past two weeks that I’m waiting for an gp appointment to get checked. My mum who has had her thyroid removed said it’s likely thyroid issues regarding the lump.

Hopefully they'll do a full set of bloods and then you'll know one way or the other.

Good luck!

Hope you get some help with the GP.

I’ve had a similar sensation for the last few weeks, mine I think is a trapped nerve in my neck.

But now someone has mentioned thyroid issues I wonder if I have the same as my Mum has thyroid issues.

It's possible. Honestly it was the only symptom I had and yet one doctor told me he didn't even think it was a symptom but Google and other sufferers told me different.

My dd had a numb arm and it was caused by a blood clot. Get it checked OP.
