To be sick of all my health issues being blamed on the menopause

Throbbing pains in toes, feet, hips, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands and fingers. Ooh, and clumsiness and sometimes unclear speech. Have not even started the menopause - have been in peri for the last 10 years! Arghhh!

Hi, what HRT are you in and what dose?

I was fuming about knocking my stick, if it hadn't been so crowded and they hadn't been in such a hurry I think I'd have used said stick to whack their shins!

Hope you manage to do something kind and gentle for yourself tomorrow and can make up with your friend.

I've booked a swim session and steam room at my local pool. It's only 5 minutes away on my mobility scooter so I zip over there in my Oodie, fluffy (Temu fake) crocs and fleece pj bottoms. Height of fashion!

Look into Ehlers Danlos Syndrome if your ankles are collapsing. It’s a connective tissue disorder caused by too much collagen in your ligaments and skin. Causes joint pain amongst other lovely symptoms

Oooh, a steam room sounds fab- especially on a cold rainy day like today. Hope you enjoyed. Not sure friends child is a positive thing for my child, so just accept that what will be will be. Meds only working to a point so in a hot bubble bath to ease my joints for me!

Might do this - couple of questions first - my mum and sister have 'weak ankles" that also go over at a minutes notice, secondly, I recently took collagen supplements to hopefully help my joints so not sure if that would hinder or help my situation?.( Ok they are just thoughts rather than questions so will go Google now,)

Try Epsom Salts in the bath. Home Bargains do some nice scented ones.

If only I could keep my ams and hands in a lovely hot bath i think I Could manage the pain a lot better

###Update### I have been diagnosed with osteoarthritis

OP posts:
Soupit · 08/03/2024 13:39

@Tiredallthetimeneedsleep Ah that's bad news and good news. You now know the cause of your joint pains and a diagnosis is often a relief from worry. I have OA which started late 40s and RA which started late 50s.
Have you been given advice on managing it? For OA in the hands I find compression gloves very helpful.

Tiredallthetimeneedsleep · 13/03/2024 20:24

Hi have been referred for physio. Have tried lots of different types of gloves, but have decided I need something that supports my fingers, thumbs, hands, wrists and arms. I have yet to discover anything that will do all of this though.

If you haven't checked thyroid already, do it now. Achy joints is always one of my symptoms, I'm underactive but stable and symptom free at the moment thankfully. Every time I've had a bad patch I get a new set of random symptoms on top of aches and exhaustion so it's very hard to see a pattern.

How do they treat thyroid?
