Am I being overly sensitive or is this a big hint

Love my job, really good at it. Today my boss sent me an email about a secondment for a job in a totally different field reminding me applications close on Sunday.

I'm a bit gobsmacked tbh and quite upset. My boss is a narcissistic lier who manipulates and lies and leads through division within the team. I thought I was managing his fucking weirdness well but obviously not.

Fucker. He has now thrown me off balance which is so fucking annoying because this is what he wants.

Are you sure it isn't just a reminder email to everyone ?

Could it be possible that this other job would work great with things you are the best at?

Lightnose · 23/02/2024 10:09

Now, if I sent that to a member of my staff it would be because I believed it was a great opportunity for them. Is it?

LittleLittleRex · 23/02/2024 10:12

You are reading too much into it, which might make sense given the background. It's considerably more likely that someone else has emailed him because there haven't been applications or just to hurry people along who might apply and he's just bunged it out to some staff.

I can't imagine it's because he wants to get rid of you for a few months, that's quite an unusual interpretation (especially as you'd come back).

Herdinggoats · 23/02/2024 10:17

I’d take it as my boss was invested in my career development, thought I was good at my job, and was ready to get more experience and start to step up. I’d be delighted 🤷🏻‍♀️

Goblinmodeactivated · 23/02/2024 10:29

I’d take it as a compliment!

LoveFood · 23/02/2024 10:32

Very confusing. Clearly you have issues with your boss. But in my experience, secondments are often seen as good opportunities and bosses are encouraged to ensure that all credible candidates are given the opportunity to apply should they want to. It's discrimination to cherry pick who gets to do these things.

Fraaahnces · 23/02/2024 10:33

I’d apply anyway. Just to get away from him.

JasminShire · 23/02/2024 10:46

A secondment? So it's only temporary? I think you are bottling up your hatred toward your annoying boss, which is understandable if you ask me, but it causes you to misjudge him right now

Catza · 23/02/2024 10:58

I work in an organisation where secondments are quite common. And they are usually either better paid or provide an exciting opportunity to develop skills. My bosses routinely send emails to all members of the team alerting them of opportunities within organisation. Never once I thought it was because they didn't like us and didn't want us around.

UpUpUpU · 23/02/2024 11:00

I’m not seeing the issue??

Howlongdoesittake · 23/02/2024 11:23

Thanks all. I've taken your comments on board and have let it go. Realise i have possibly over reacted.

Off to hug a rabbit.
